Boxster Hardtop Dimensions & Transportation Ideas

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just bought a hardtop from a guy, and I will be driving to pick it up next week. The problem is that my car is currently in the shop and I may not have it back in time to drive 8 hours to get the top. I have a '99 Grand Cherokee, and am wondering whether or not it will fit in the car, or on the roof. This is a last resort, but I want to be prepared for the worst case scenario.

Does anyone have the dimensions of the 986 hardtop?

Also, any tips on transporting it?

I cannot delay my pickup date, so I have to figure something out. Any ideas?

Thanks! :)

did the shop give you a loaner Boxster? that would be the easiest way. you could drive down and put in on the loaner and drive home.

or you could rent a Boxster for a day.

the hardtop is roughly 48"L x 46"W x 15"H. i think it would fit in the back of a Cherokee.

don't forget the spinlocks!

I just re-measured my hard top and got 58" or 59" at the widest part (shoulder-to-shoulder) with the cloth cover on. Also measured the car at the same spot (back of passenger window to back of driver's window and got about the same. Front of top is about 46" or so.

And yes - do not forget the :censored: spinlocks!
