  1. I didn't notice a copper coloured plate when I had the panel off but then again I wasn't looking for it! Thanks for that.
  2. I need to replace my passenger door locking mechanism due to a faulty microswitch. Removing the door panel is straightforward but it looks pretty difficult to get the actual lock body out. Any advice? Thanks.
  3. I've done that and it's a microswitch that indicates whether or not the door is closed. Is this repairable or is the solution to change the lock?
  4. Sorry, perhaps i didn't make myself clear. It has been checked with a PST2 and that is indicating a microswitch not registering that the door is closed when, in fact, it is. I was looking to see if there was anybody else who had suffered a similar problem before taking the door apart and changing the locking mechanism.
  5. Before I start taking the door apart and investing in a new lock mechanism I thought it worth running this past you guys. When I lock the car I get a double beep - indicating a fault. The passenger door isn't locked. I then open and close the passenger door and push remote again and it locks - but still double beeps to tell me there's a problem. With the very kind help of a fellow enthusiast we have identifed a fault code and it would seem that one of the door micro switches is registering that the door isn't closed when in fact it is. What baffles me is the fact that I can open and reclose the door and it then locks. I previously owned a Ferrari and came to expect weird electrical faults with that but not with a PORSCHE!!!
  6. Thanks for the various comments but will the Sony unit work with the Becker head unit? Does anyone know?
  7. Can anyone tell me if the Sony T62 is identical to the Becker/Porsche CDC3? Can the Sony changer be connected to a Becker/Porsche CR-22 head unit?
  8. Hi Guys I have a 996 fitted with Cr-22 and CDC3 Becker CD changer (2660). The Cd changer is faulty and I am looking at getting a replacement. I have been offered a Sony CDX T62 and am being told that it is compatible with the Becker head. Can anyone confirm this? Cheers Trevor
  9. I've now disconnected and reconnected the CD changer and it is working again now!
  10. I have a CD Changer - CDC 3 - fitted and when I first got the car it wasn't working. I took it out and reconnected it and all was well! However, I recently needed to disconnect the battery (to mend door handle) and now it's packe up again! I'll try disconnecting it and reconnecting - as before - to see if this sorts it out. Is it usual for this to happen when power is disconnected? The changer appears to work okay otherwise but does have a broken/missing cover. Trevor
  11. Thanks guys. This is my first experience of this forum and I must say that the help and advice given has been excellent. I have tried another UK based forum and nobody even seems to bother replying! Happy motoring Trevor
  12. Done it!!!! You're right - it wasn't too bad at all. The fault was the link from the handle to lock - it seemed to have disconnected itself. The only worrying moment was when I took the battery cable off and the car alarm went berserk! Fortunately it stopped after about 10 seconds. They don't warn you of that in the instructions! Thanks for your help and advice everyone. Trevor
  13. Thanks for that. It was sort of the conclusion I was coming to - I just don't fancy taking the panel of!!! Looks like that's what I'll be doing tomorrow then.
  14. Hi Guys My first 996 and great car - 2000 Carrera 4S - but can anyone help me with this problem? I closed the drivers door at the weekend and when I went to reopen it I found I couldn't! When I lift the handle the window drops as it should but that's it - door won't budge. I can open the door from the inside with no problem. Any ideas??? Trevor Barnard
