    i so very envy you guys in the states. i'm from malaysia. premium cars here are so expensive (high taxes) you guys won't believe them. i went to a local dealer beginning of the year to enquire about a new 987 boxster S. its a whopping RM 620,000/- basic. RM 670,000/- loaded. 1 USD = RM 3.2 now thats USD 193,750 for a basic boxster S and USD 209,375 for a loaded one! i had no choice but to settle for a 2001 used (very low mileage but 2 previous owners!) unit and i had to pay .... RM 300,000 for it. thats USD 93,750/- as a layman i would put a middle income executive's average pay at RM 3k - 5k/ month the more i type the more i sympathize myself for being a malaysian sometimes. :rolleyes: see how u guys are so much better off in terms of owning a car? ... just FYI ps never regretted a single day of owning my first porsche!

    thought if i do not need to change the oil then i cud save up some dough for other mods. come to think of it 7 years is a long long time. so most probably i'm going ahead with the change. its going to be another 40000kms at 80000 kms before a major oil change so i guess its best. thanks for the heads up guys.

    hi guys, just a quick question on the rear transmission and rear diff gear oil. do i need to change them if my 01 boxster S has only 40000kms on it? if not when do i need to?

    just wondering guys, does it cost a lot more to actually change the top together with the actuating or folding motors and the whole shebang into the facelifted four bow ones? then our rear glass would b glass! what are the things to change and how much? any experience out there guys/girls

    thanks guys, that kinda alleviate my fears of a major cover up for a 'crazy accident where my baby loss traction, rolled over a couple of times before it turned turtle in a large ditch or something' :D no seriously, i just din want to find out they have resprayed the car to hide something. also maybe the previous top was torn from a major accident. its driving great. there are no words to describe the feel of driving the car (especially for a first time porsche owner). but i always run out of road at 3rd or 4th gear. traffic here is getting ridiculous makes me wonder how would a 997 turbo feel like... man these thing dont end do they? its really worth every single sen spent. cars down here are really heftily priced. can u guys imagine i had to pay RM 300,000 for my second hand baby which is 8 years old. thats USD 100,000/- !!! the new 987 costs in excess of USD 200,000/- (basic) wish there was a site where i can decode porsche color codes though. thanks a bunch again guys

    thats an info. u can confirm that? i have seen non litronics but white headlights. also my color code says 744C50. just checked out that its not basalt black. it should be metallic black. what do they stand for. i know 744 stands for metallic black. anything in there tells me the softop color? we can order any colored top with our porsches? in Malaysia the distributor do stock up a couple of units but many buyers also custom order. maybe thats when they ask for certain color softops. BTW is there a color code decoding site i can go to? anyone?

    hi guys, I just took over a basalt black ROW boxster S '01. the mileage is now 38,000km. i've had 2 mechanics checked the undercarriage and and interior and they have all confirmed the car is accident free and most probably the mileage is genuine. i wanna check with anyone who know why :- 1. my headlights, tails light and side signals are all amber and not white. (arent all boxster S's lights all white if not litronic for the facelifted models 2. my top is grey in color. doesnt grey tops only come with blue cars? anyone knows?

    man ashleyisagirlsname, your baby looks great!. is it basalt black? assuming i dont use my boxster very often (6000km a year). how often to i need to straighten my wheels in 'pothole land'? from the description, i guess you have not had of your 19s bent. u use your boxster very little?

    any pics of ur 19? you dont have any complains on the ride comfort and stiffness? what about damages caused by potholes? are they significantly frequent?

    i own a 01 boxster S, is replacing the vinyl top with an original glass top from the facelifted model very expensive? ( i know we will need to replace the 3 bow motor with the 4 bow) or is it even viable or possible? any pointers guys?

    hey guys, need a quick tip on this. should i put an 18 or a 19 on my boxster S? I am the type who wants my car to look good but not sacrificing very very much on comfort. we all know the pain of hitting a pot hole with the biggest size of rims on our cars dont we. to make matters worse, our car weight is just too much for the rim and the bearing or shocks. whatever the inch suggested, should i change the stock suspension/spring and what brand? i'm sure this tpic has been discussed before but cant find it yet. share ur experience. thanks guys ... gals

    thanks guys, just so you guys know, i have decided to take a chance at owning a boxster and paid the deposit. fingers crossed .. hopefully not the intermediate shaft. wish me luck. will keep you guys updated on my experiences .. i survive it. hehe take care and thanks again

    I guess we can generalize that the later models (post 99) ones should have been spick and span. The scary thing is if anyone of you read the later posts ... cars up til 04 blew! contacted a specialist here and he said in Malaysia where i come from, he has only done one 996 which had leaky block. otherwise all the boxsters and 996s were alrite. He attributes it the fact that cars here are generally not modded to the brim and not trashed to the edge. cars here are expensive so we take care of them even on track days. (i'm speaking for myself and others who make a comfortable living and not the absurdly rich ones, hehehe) what say u guys?
