  1. Its Completed. The car is on the road and all is good! after all with parts and labor the price was $2100 I hope this post will help some one in the future (i hope no one will ever need it tho)
  2. Sorry to tell you, but you are wrong. My trans was fixed for under $2K. (600 in parts , and a negotiated labor rate) i was looking for a used trans and the cheapest i saw was around $3K. And yes , Sol`s reputation speaks for itself when it comes for setting cars up for track but to go to Sol for a CEL i think would be a waste of time for Sol and yourself if you have an indy around the block from you. That is just my opinion i hope i didnt offend anyone
  3. Perfect Power in Buffalo Grove is a very good option from recommendations but i had a poor experience with them, I called Sal (the owner) when my Trans went bad ( see my topic on failed trans) I told Sal my story and his immediate answer was "Sir, The only thing we can do for you is replace your transmission" he didnt even see the car . A good option if you are located in the north side of chicago is lakeside international on broadway and foster http://www.lakesideinternational.com/ Good luck
  4. Could be the following Battery Open circuit causing the Battery to drain at night Auto Zone could test the battery to see if it needs to be replaced :welcome:
  5. Just came back from the shop to bring some pictures.
  6. Update - Contacted my mechanic , he ordered all the parts needed - Oil pump assembly, installation Kit , fluid. All and all $600 in parts - now labor is the question ..... how long such this work should take and what should i be paying for labor. He guesstimated around $1900 in labor (said it took him 10 hours to drop the trans) Thank you
  7. So far i contacted WIT - whatever it takes transmissions a direct reference from the ZF website Now the funny thing is, the one shop i called in PA told me they dont have those units for sale and i will have to get the whole transmission. Yet the shop in IN quoted me on the part - 246usd or 164usd depending on the Cast# of the unit. It is very unfortunate for them to be so inconsistent with their service
  8. Update - mechanic just called me to let me know that the Oil pump in the trans gone bad, one of the gears broke inside. i will try to get pictures He also told me he called porsche for parts but what they told him is that they dont sell the parts for this trans. aside from the front seal. how can i get the pump ?? Thank you
  9. I had the same issue 2 months ago. replaced the AOS and it went away. Just to give you heads up, your car will puff smoke after replacing the AOS for a few days or even couple of weeks. Dont stress over it , its normal Good luck p.s i would not recommend a DIY
  10. Ok so more info from today. Went to the mechanic and asked him if he performed a Tip diagnostics , he said he did but no codes from the Tip. Further more , After clearing the codes and kicking the car into manual mode the transmission would shift the gears no problem from 1st to 5th and down. So the trans shifts and The tip works just fine, yet no power to the wheels. The trans is going to be dropped in the next few days, i will try to take pictures for you all.
  11. sorry for the double post, but i would love to know what should be looked for at the tip diagnostic
  12. AOS in my opinion as well. as far as fixing it, order it on line and have a good indy or the dealer do it. its def not a walk in the park DIY you didnt mention any CEL, but just to make sure, did anything come up?
  13. Loren , can you please explain what the tiptronic diagnostic might show??
  14. The transmission specialist could repair it, but the Indy shop will certainly replace it... your choice... This is what i was told by the indy shop - "not all parts for the repair may be available to buy" making it not possible to fix....is this a possible circumstance or is he trying to go the easy route and the most profiting for him??
