  1. well see my problem is i have no remote location to put it .... any ideas? its a cayenne the only option i am aware of is front grill then theres no rear protection :( is the unit shown in the picture the receiver? so what you are saying is the Cayenne has no location to remote mount the sensor unit? that sucks. on another subject, have you heard if the 2004 Cayenne S cars are good to buy or not? fried of mine has a used one with only 13K miles he said i can have for 41K. very loaded and has lived in a garage all its life. but i have seen some post of people saying the 04's are bad, do you know?
  2. Am i missing something? if the V1 unit is still visible, what is the purpose of putting the display into the mirror?
  3. that is about the rate for a full coverage job. all parts front and rear, mirrors wheel openings etc. but the problem is most installers suck so be sure they use a good one.
  4. i recommend going with the laptop and a currency converter. the size is no caparison to those little things. what would you rather watch?
  5. my guess as to how many would be few. my take on vehicle problems and those the people that are on the forums is that they (we) are very detail oriented and aware people who notice even the slightest issues. i am not saying there is not a problem with the Cayenne, i am saying that there are thousands of Cayennes on the road and if you read this forum, there may be a total of 10-20 people with issues. PCNA will never consider this a big problem with so few people complaining. IMHO By the way, i am seriously considering the purchase of a Cayenne, i currently drive a 997S, but every time i drive a Cayenne i love it. and no i have never noticed the vibration thing, but i will be sure to pay more attention from now on.
  6. Peanuts, can you give me more info on the ECU reprogram? is yours a TT or not? Mudman, can you give me more info on your exp. with the S model ECU or cat bypass? I drove a Turbo and I am not too sure that it is worth the money as the HP is really not usable on the street unless you are into drag racing. the lag was a bit of a pain while on the twisties. how about some opinions and thoughts.
  7. Sorry for the confusion, but I am not sure the Britax will fit or not, I was wondering if anyone had tried it? The Recaro says the dimensions of the base are 19" and I think the seat bottom is closer to 12-13". No fat kids allowed in the back, ha ha. The Britax web site did not show the base dimensions. Anyone know? As for the Booster only, the wife would never go for it.
  8. thanks for the info. i know that i need a booster seat, the problem is which on fits the narrow seats of the porsche, plus as you know p cars seat backs almost have a negative angle leaning foward so it forces the car seat closer to the passanger seat. i am currently using a graco tha i just threw in. all our other seats are Britax, but none of them even come close to fitting in the seat bottom. does anyone know a specific britax seat by name that will fit. i was told that porsche quite selling the britax rename (and over priced) seats? i guess i need to go to Baby's r us and just start carring seats out to the car to test fit, but i was hoping someone would have some ideas to save time. does anyone know if the recaro boster seat fits? http://www.recarochildseats.com/startChildSeats.asp
  9. Dont count on it, i talked to PCNA directly and wrote them letters. They made it very clear to me that they have no intention of offering Sat for the 997 due to the lame excuse of antenna placement. I even asked them about the Cayenne retro and the would not comment. Now you say they are pulling the kit? Total BS if you ask me.
  10. can anyone recommend a child seat for the rear of my 997S? my child is 30+ pounds and is over 4 years old. do any of the recaro childs seats fit?
  11. Wow! You're crazy. Good for you figuring this all out. How long did this project take you to do? I can take anything in the world apart, just getting it back can be a b****. 1080i, where are you located? I live in Atlanta, GA and would like to get this done, but don't know who to trust.
  12. You may want to consider a set of H&R lowering springs. I had it done upon delivery and i makes a huge difference. Basically the car drives much like if you have the PASM engaged all the time. Definately feel the cracks and everything else. Not the cushy 4x4 ride and look of the stock. When you put it in PASM mode it is on rails. I will try to attach some before and after pics. Total cost was not much. I don't remember how much the springs were, but my dealer did the swap including re-allignment for $835.00.
  13. If it's still a little "knotchy" I would insist they keep changing the transmission until it's right. It should be smooth as butter, so don't take NO for an answer . Btw: What is the name and location of your dealer ? He sounds fantastic. I would love to use him from now on for all my warranty work (even if I don't get a free loaner ) I'll be happy to let him know that you recommended him . I am confused, on one thread you treat me like a total ***$%$#% hole, and on this on you are all nice. My dealer is Hennesy Porsche in Alpharetta, GA. I think the trany swap was rediculas b/c in my (non mechanic) opinion, i would have figured that the problem would be linkage related, but they said they found metal shavings in the pan so they wanted to replace it. Made no difference to me, not like it is ever going to be a collector car that needs to have original matching numbers. But i am still keeping my eye on the way it shifs and will return if not satisfied. it is in the shop now for several other issues, so the jury is out as to whether this car is going to be a PIA or just working the bugs out. for 90K it better work damm well.
  14. Thanks for sharing your life . And I do understand your pain . You bought a 100 k car that you now don't know what to do with ... You are thinking of buying a Cayenne , but you wont be able to use it because you have to haul "stuff" to your mountain home.... On another thread you stated that the dealer put a new transmission into your Porsche because the sport shifter was a little tight .... About the only thing believeable about you is that you drive a pick up truck. I may be an *** , but where does that leave you ? Jean, are you serioulsy tring to get into a pissing match over whether or not i own a 997S? you need to get a life and quit being so negative on these boards. i come to the boards for some freindly advice and comraderie, not to be pissed on and debate my ownership. jean, get a life and please do not bother responding to my comments any more, you are not helping any of us with your negativity. "happy 911" thanks for your understanding and i appreciate the feedback.
  15. i took my S in complaining of hard shifing into 2nd, i have the SS, and they replace the entire trany. seemed like over kill to me, but it does seem to work better now. but it is still a little knotchy at times, but they say that is b/c it is a SS?
