  1. OK, reconnected the airbag and all is good. So it was just the connection.
  2. Loren - does a new (or second hand) airbag need to be coded to the car? I have a durametric pro to clear codes etc.
  3. Well, I put a 3ohm resistor in place of the air bag and the light goes out and I can clear the code, so I guess the airbag needs to be replaced...
  4. Hi All Got the above air bag fault the other day after a long drive. It can be cleared by the durametric but turns on with the next ignition cycle, so it's permanent. I did read about boxsters needing a new harness because of this, but my local porsche mech says it's probably the connection to the airbag in the door (inside the door panel) or the airbag itself, however I'd like to check the door harness connection point by the passenger's kick panel first, which is the easiest thing to do before I tear the door off - but not sure how to get in there yet. RHD 2005 997.1 C2S in New zealand, so no salt and dry garages, no moisture issues etc.
  5. Old post BUT there was a tech bulletin about this, 4075. The spring top is not shaped correctly and sits wrongly, contacting the spring plate and/or the stop plate (6 and /or 4). Fix is new springs: for the coupe, C2S manual, they are 997 343 531 42 504
  6. The C141 code seems to be quite common when using the durametric. A lot of us get it for no apparent reason. The Durametric doesn't do the handover yet, or maybe ever, unfortunately.
  7. I have written several times to Durametric over the last year or so, even helped them figure out some of the bugs present, asking them if they would be willing to help with some of the more esoteric options in the program. As you all know they provide no clues whatsoever to the coding in their software. Up to now I have received absolutely nothing from them. I'm donating all the time I've spent on this for free too! I thought it might help them get more clients too. Never mind I am continuing with this project cause I like my car. Plus I'm an OCD engineer and can't resist a challenge.... Matt from NZ
  8. I don't think the algorithm uses coolant temp, only engine bay temp possibly in conjunction with speed and outside temp.
  9. Hi All I have been making a Durametric coding manual by myself for some time, and have completely forgot to post that on this forum!! So, it is on google docs and I really need help with the items in yellow, especially those that have no explanation for what they are. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Y8WWGzT_81MOMitQ_hv_-yKZTp0pwhEyyIpuiQo3xaI/edit#gid=1690443213 The coding is specific for 9X7 models, coupes, cabs, turbos etc (mainly cause I have a 997.1!) Plus these models seem to have the most coding options on the Durametric system. Please feel free to leave comments on the google docs site (click up in RH corner), or here in this thread. Thanks Matt
  10. Hi All I have a 2005 997.1 C2S down under. 65000km. Very good dry conditions, NZ new car so no salt/rust etc. Just replaced the sparkplugs and found the 3 coils on the left hand bank have hairline cracks in them, nothing like some of the photos I have seen and not giving any issues but probably need to be replaced. Now, these part numbers are: On my car: 996 602 102 00 (short bolt) Supposed to be from the parts Katalog (short bolt): 997 602 104 00 From Pelican parts (long bolt version): 997 602 104 02 So my first question is: Can I replace only the left 3 (and I guess it has to be at least 3) with the modern part number? (short or long bolt) And: are the short and long bolt versions any better/worse then each other? I.e stay with short bolt or not. And: why does my car appear to have 996 coil packs on it??? (which are even older than the 2005 997 parts katalog number), 996 602 104 00 Thanks
  11. I quite often get the reversing light thing too. Not sure why. I also have the 8042 after a dead battery, however I can clear it but it comes back.
  12. The C141 code often comes up with durametric interrogation - don't worry about it.
