Does anyone know how to: 1) Remove the cupholders? 2) Remove the cassette holder? 3) Swap the trim from the cassette holder into a cd holder I would also like to make the following changes... My current dash console setup is as follows: Cupholders Radio Cassette Holder Climate Controls I have ordered an empty shelf and the cd holder and would like to install these. Ideally, I would like the following setup: Radio CD shelf Shelf Climate Control Is this possible? I have read that it may be more difficult than anticipated and I will have to resort to the following: Shelf Radio CD Holder Climate Controls. Any recommendations? Thanks!

People move all this stuff around. Search for cupholderectomy. That style cupholder was only used 2001 and 2002.

Thanks for all your help!
I have found my answers under:
I managed to take out the cupholders but found I couldn't fit anything else into the empty space as the hole is too big. Cupholders had to go back in for now. I believe I'm missing a spacer. I may just go with moving the a/c to the top. We'll see... back to the drawing board.

There are 2 types of storage bins. The rectangle and the one with the curves at the bottom. The retangle one fits where the radio goes. The space above the radio where your cupholders are should be the same size as the radio. You might try and see if the rectangle shelf fits where your cupholders are. But I have not seen a car where this was done.

Yes, I had ordered the top shelf for this purpose. Unfortunately, as I slid it in there was still a gap between the bottom of the shelf and the top of the radio. It also appeared to me, that it wouldn't really snap into place. It fits in fine, and snapped right into place just below the radio and above the climate control. Is there something I'm missing?
I have read, that if one wishes to relocate the climate controls to the top-most opening then trim peice:
996 552 677 00 01C is needed
996 573 501 00
The storage shelf # I currently have is:
Is a different shelf necessary to go on top?
--- Problem? ---
After reviewing your posted picture, it looks as though the eyelits for the screws no longer exist on my console. Side brackets were used to secure the cupholders in place. Do I need to get a new completely new console as you have pictured?

You have the correct storage bin. It should be just like the top one in this pic, rectangle shape. You are not missing anything. There is no trim or brackets for the bin that I know of. I was hoping it would just snap in like it does above your a/c display. Might want to post a picture and see if someone has a suggestion.
