MP3 Player

Recommended Posts

I am a new guy to these forums and did a search for MP3 and got no results.

Does anyone know of an MP3 player adapter that can be purchased for my 2008 Cayman S with the Bose system, or is there a way to plug it into the back of the head unit? I have a Microsoft Zune that I want to play in my car. Thanks.

The music player interface has the following main features:

- Discrete installation position in the center console storage bin

- Battery charge function for the iPod®

- Volume control via PCM

- Music tracks can be selected using an external music player

Fitted the above only a few days ago. Works fine.

It's pretty expensive for essentially a glorified FM transmitter. A dension unit may be a better idea they are similarly priced, and allow selection of tracks etc from the PCM etc, the Porsche Music Interface doesn't! However, the Dension unit is normally fitted in the bonnet which adds a level of inconvenience!

Guess it depends on whether you prefer OEM and of course whether you have a PCM in your car!

To answer the original question , there is no way to get Stereo into a PCM as there are no auxilliary contacts or connections on the rear of the PCM 2.1. This leaves you with the only option to fit a MOST compatable device. The Desnion or Mobridge units offer better compatability with telephones and other Mp3 devices than the porsche item and use the MOST system for lossless transmission of audio into the PCM. The further benefit is that the PCM can control the ipod / phone / USB music selection directly if a Dension or mobridge unit is fitted. If you are an Apple products stalwart , then you probably need the Mobridge , if you have Mp3 on USB devices or a non apple bluetooth phone , then the Dension is probably a better bet. Both cost about the same at 300 USD , only slightly more than the porsche device and a lot easier to DIY install.
