Hi on the driver side valve cover in the front i have a vacum leak from the black cap what is the name and does it come off or does it have a gasket?

Are you sure it is leaking?

Do you get a fault code?

Are you sure it is leaking?

Do you get a fault code?

Thank you yes it gave a buch of codes cam sensor misfire on 4 idle control valve it makes a leaking sound but if twist the cap a little it will stop until the next start is leaking from the base if the black cap. Is that had to change?

Ignore the diagram above then - it was for a V6 Cayenne.

That part is still the crankcase bleeding but I am not finding it in the parts system.

Perhaps you should email or call the folks at Sunset Imports.

Hi Loren now i am getting codes 1182,0507,0021,2187,2189 can you guide me on what to check the first one pcv do you know the location?

P1182 Positive Crankcase Ventilation Output Stage – Open Circuit

Possible causes:

- Fuse F50 faulty (fuse carrier, dashboard, on the left)

- Break in wiring in voltage supply of positive crankcase ventilation heater

- Break in wiring in connection to ground of positive crankcase ventilation heater

- Positive crankcase ventilation heater faulty (heating resistance too high)

- DME control module faulty

P0507 Idle Air Control at Stop - Above Limit

Possible causes:

- Leaks in intake air system

- Leaks in crankcase ventilation

- Throttle adjusting unit faulty

P0021 Adjustment of Inlet Camshaft in relation to Crankshaft, Bank 2 – Signal Implausible

Possible causes:

- Dirt in oil circuit

- Sealing strips on inlet camshaft adjuster faulty

- Oil pressure too low

- Mechanical fault in inlet camshaft adjuster

- Magnetic hydraulic valve fault

P2187 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 1 (RKAT1) - Above Limit

Possible causes:

- Incorrect main charge signal

- Intake air system leaking

- Fuel pressure too low

- Volume supply of fuel pump too low

- Mechanical fault in injection valves

- PCV valve leaks

- Cap of oil filler neck leaking

- Leaks in exhaust system

- EVAP canister purge valve mechanically faulty (hangs open)

- EVAP canister purge valve output stage faults

P2189 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 2 (RKAT2) - Above Limit

Possible causes:

- Incorrect main charge signal

- Intake air system leaking

- Fuel pressure too low

- Volume supply of fuel pump too low

- Mechanical fault in injection valves

- PCV valve leaks

- Cap of oil filler neck leaking

- Leaks in exhaust system

- EVAP canister purge valve mechanically faulty (hangs open)

- EVAP canister purge valve output stage faults

The pattern here still says PVC or other air leaks.

Look for cracked, broken, or split tubing and hoses.

If you can not find anything you will likely need a PIWIS tester to track down the exact cause.

Hi Loren i check the fuses and also for broken hoses nothing could the oil separator be the problem does the v8 ave a aos do you know the location you are correct the first code will set of the others

Thanks a friend suggested the oil separator do you know a quick test. He suggested taking the oil cap and checking for suction I did and it suck my palm very strong like a vacum cleaner

This is a Cayenne not a 9x6 series car.

this a cayenne s if you look a v8 turbo diagram for 2007 the parts shows in the diagram as oil separator

It is true they sometimes get a small hole in them and can have an effect on idle and such. Also true that Porsche only sells the whole cap. Pelican parts or somebody use to sell this rubber diaphram for something like $20 but if it can't be found anywhere else and your trying to trace down a vacuum leak this could be the good (only) deal around without having to replace the whole (stupid) valve cover.

I just bought that diaphragm off eBay, but I have had a he'll of a problem trying to get the black cap off. If you are able to replace it I would be interested in how because I followed the instructions on pelicanparts but it did not come off as described for me.

I bought this directly from the guy's website (vanos-bmw.com) because, at that time, according to the seller eBay had frozen Paypal accounts in Russia. The part came rather quickly considering it came from Russia and I installed it using the Pelican parts guide. no problems. Seems to be a good seller.
