Porsche 997 lowering springs / 2006 Carrera S

Recommended Posts

Gentlemen,

I would really like to lower my car about a half an inch. I don't want to go the aftermarket route (H & R etc.) and cannot afford the Bilstein set up. I don't want to compromise the functionality the PASM and "Sport" settings.

Does Porsche offer a spring that will lower my car to Euro spec? Also is Euro spec about a half inch?

Thanks...

No it doesn't lower the ride height. Only stiffens the dampners. I believe the 2010 models actually lower the ride height. But I believe that may be in only the Euro spec cars.

I would like to lower the car purely for aesthetic reasons. The U.S. cars ride too high.

Unless I can lower the car slightly without sacrificing too much ride qiuality I won't bother...

Thanks for the reply :D

Phillipj, i'm not an expert on lowering suspension, but though I'd suggest this as you helped me on my fabspeed air intake question.: ever think about buying Euro standard springs for your 911. If they're slightly lower, this would bring your car to Euro spec. There is a place that is great for Porsche parts - Pelicanparts.com

may help. cheers.

You might want to ask Gert at Carnewal about Porsche 997 Euro lowering springs. Sunset can get ROW parts; I got my ROW M030 from them.

I read somewhere H&R makes the OEM springs. Look on their site at http://hrsprings.com/scripts/appguide.php?...1/997%20Carrera They show sport springs that lower front and rear 1.2", not sure if you need to change out the shocks to match. If yes, look at the Bilstein Sport shocks, which are supposed to be better than the stock ones and suitable for lowered suspensions. Tirerack's web site lists both springs and shocks

Before you do anything, you should definitely talk to Steve Alarcon at Johnson's Alignment in Torrance for advice on options and tradeoffs. He did an outstanding job installing the ROW M030 shocks, springs and sway bars
