Central Locking Horn Alarm

Recommended Posts

When I activate the central locking system (with the remote key), I get the usual double flash of the lights but the audible signal is intermittent, ie. sometimes the horn beeps and sometimes it does not.

I assume that normally there should be a brief beep to confirm the central lock has been activated.

The regular horn works fine.

Which specific relay should I be checking? Any other possibilities?

(I searched the forums but could not find anything specific to help me).

2001 996 Coupe.

as I understand it, the horn will beep only if an alarmed item is not closed, like the glovebox, or the center console. check all connections to be sure they are closed completely then try the alarm again. the horn should sound only as a warning of an open connection. if the alarm is properly set there should be no beep from the horn.

good luck...

I'd like a 'beep' to confirm that the alarm activated when I leave the car too. So like to leave the glovebox open, etc. to get the single beep, but then I loose the information on whether something was left open.

I'm wondering, couldn't a small buzzer or horn be connected some how to the central locking circuit so that when the locks are locked the buzzer sound briefly too? How does the central locking work, is there a circuit that is energized momentarily that we could hook into somewhere?
