Airbag light after sport bucket seat swap

Recommended Posts

I have a 2011 boxster spyder which was optioned from the factory with sport heated seats. I hated the seats and eventually found a good deal on a brand new set of GT2 carbon bucket seats, which is what the car was meant to have from the beginning anyway. During the install, I disconnected the battery and had the key out of the ignition. Installation was smooth and easy. However, after starting the car up, the airbag light on the center console and the 'passenger airbag light' next to the shifter will not turn off. As an experiment, I re-installed my original heated seats into the passenger side, and the lights turned off. As soon as the sport buckets were placed back in, the lights turned back on again. I have a durametric, but have had no luck in turning off the lights. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe

this will need reseting at a dealers with a piwis computer. I have a 986 boxster but I Believe the new ones have an airbag in the seat so if you want to install the GT2 seats with no airbag then the car will need to have the option for the different seats removed in the DME
