Wet both footwells after repair

Recommended Posts

Recently I had problem with several warnings (brake proportional, psm failure, abs failure) and it turned out that one of the wires hided in

driver footwell was corroded due to water leak in that place (well known problem). The water drains in firewall were clogged by leaves and dirt. The water was also collected under engine fuse box. It was repaired in Porsche service, all carpet was removed, drains were unclogged, also AC drain was checked. About few weeks later after rainy wheater I've noticed that driver and passenger carpets are wet again. What is going on? I've red about possible sunroof drain problems but  couldn't find how exactly get access to check them. Are there any other places that should be checked. Any help appreciated.(Cayenne 3.2 2004)

To gain access to the sunroof drains you have to partially peel back the front most sections of passenger and drivers carpet. Once the 2 foam pieces are exposed you have to put your hand in between the 2 foam pieces. On the driver side the drain is up and to the left. On the passenger side it's up and to the right. It will feel like a rubber grommet. Pull it out and see if there is build up. If not, cut the tip off to promote better flow. Another possibility for water entry is the firewall. There is an aluminum piece that is glued to the firewall that separates the cowl area ( where leaves build up) and the passenger compartment. It's possible that corrosion had built up between the aluminum piece and the firewall separating the glue and allowing water in. Unfortunately the carpet has to be removed again to dry them and the drains need to be water tested. The dealer shouldn't charge you if you bring it back for what they supposedly fixed the first time. Hope this helps
