Flushing your Transmission , Experience

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Because Transmission Problems with a Cayenne is a common subject, i would like to Share my experience. I dont know if Flushing Transmissions is a well known process overseas, i will write some words about this here. When i was going to change my Fluid, the service Guy asked me why i just change the oil. He explain to me what does it mean to Flush a transmission.

Because i had the same Problems like many orhers here, hard shifting, Crazy up and down shifting during hard drive, i decided to try the Flushing . What i can say, the Vehikel run very smooth now..

Here is s link which is showing the Process in Youtube:

So you finally ditch the Cayenne for a Mercedes!! Hahah

j/k :)

I'll have to watch the whole video later. It's very slow now...maybe problems on my side. I bet you just the new transmission oil and filter will make it run

much smoother. I found it funny and ironic that you need to hook up an "ATM" machine (automated teller machine) to maintenance these cars :)

No no i still have my cayenne's

I had a Chance to Talk to a Guy from ZF. He explain me that specially Heavy cars, Vehikels with high torque have very bad Fluid quality after some years. Every mercedes service Point is offering this Procedere. Almost every Taxi service is doing this on all cars now. I am really Impressed by the results.

Transmission flushing systems are common here as well (including the BG brand), and do a great job of getting all the fluid out of the torque converter as well as the transmission.  Only problem is that most of these system connect to the external transmission cooler (usually in the radiator) via the cooler lines;  and on many Porsche models, there are no cooler lines as the cooler is mounted directly on the transmission case side:

The only lines coming off the Tip cooler are coolant lines, not fluid, so you would have to remove the cooler itself and bolt an adaptor in its place to accomplish a flush, and that would not be very easy on many Porsche models as there is no room to do this.  This is one of many reasons we suggest shortening the factory service intervals on the Tips to a max of 40-50K rather than 90K, this way you are changing out as much fluid as possible more frequently.

I would love to see a quality system to flush the Tips in the cars, but to date have not seen one that I like.

Hi !

I dont know how they connect the Lines.

I will do the same with my turbo in the next days and try to make pictures. So you can see how it works.

This Fluid Changing Equipment has special Adapters for every model.

Did you ever do this? I am really interested in seeing if it can be done for the 955 transmission.

I need to replace the fluid in my MANUAL Cayenne GTS transmission.  Does anyone know of a DIY for this? I have changed the fluid in my old TTS Automatic, which was a 'good time', but I cannot find anything for the Manual transmission.  Thanks!!!
