Curious to know who's got the "world record" haha.

 

I just crossed 130k on my 04 CTT.  on my way to work one day and it starts stumbling.  Instantly i'm thinking coil packs, but it clears up as i'm coming home.

 

Pull the codes, see a misfire cyl 7.  pull the pack, cracked.  pulled all of them, 7 of the 8 were also cracked.  Order 8 new ones.

 

What's interesting is i had -02 revision packs, which i believe would have been original factory packs, or at least **** close.  130k is pretty good compared to some of the others i've heard about.

 

What's also interesting is how quickly they fail.  i had just done plugs at 120k, and inspected all the packs.

110k km on my ctt replaced with new and plugs (of plugs had seen 80k if the receipts were all true), didn't really notice much change. The old Coils look fairly good so have kept as emergency spare for future.

As you will see from my other post I have head Gasket failure hence my hesitation problem is now diagnosed.

80k miles, I felt some hesitation and pulled all 8 coils out of my 2004 CTT. All were cracked and split as shown here in the photo. Some were cracked on the other side and I couldn't get them to stay still for the photo.

 

These were all -02 revision. New ones I put in were -21 but looked superficially the same. 

 

Unfortunately I could only change 7 of the 8 since one of the new coils I bought had been subjected to some trauma and had a crushed connector. I joked that it came pre-cracked from the factory. I have yet to install the last new coil. 

 

Changed all the plugs as well without any drama. Unfortunately one of the bolts holding the coil pack in stripped out when reinstalling, they look brass in appearance and a new bolt looks aluminum, now my next job is to repair that.
