Having a problem with rear camera seems to point down at bumper mostly and the cover won't fit or attached to camera which I assume it was supposed to? Occasionally they get stuck against each other and it won't pop open. Anybody have some advise how the rear camera is supposed to look fully open extended and how the cover fixes to it?

Appreciate any reply.

The whole back plastic trim piece the width of the rear hatch around the camera is attached with snap fittings. Use a plastic spatula if you don't have trim tools and remove the whole piece to get at the camera. Have someone extend and retract it through the PCM with you watching it and see if it works fine with the trim removed. I'm sure you will either find out where it is catching (maybe snapped a little loose) or the motor going bad. If you are very careful you can take the extension assembly apart as the motor just spins little jackscrews to extend and retract. If you decide to do it then you can clean off any and all old grease and lightly re-grease them for easier movement.

My OEM camera went bad ('06 CTTS) but it extended and retracted fine. I found a Ebay camera for $25 that I fitted in the OEM mount (for the price I think it's a better picture. How technology has gotten better and cheaper after a few years). Now it works great again. I actually ended up buying two Ebay cameras, hooked the RCA plugs up to my TV and both powered up fine with a 9v battery but the OEM power source is about 6v., only one worked on the 6v, the other I still have sitting in the tool box. I could've come up with a straight link to a 12v power source back there but thought I would try my best to stick with all of the OEM connections. Porsche would only sell the whole unit (Extension motor/Camera) as a single unit for around $1400.

Thanks for the reply, the car is due back from the garage after head Gasket job so looking forward to get these other little problems ironed out. I will post what I find and fix. Just out of interest can you take a picture of how far your camera moves out and what picture you see? I see a lot of bumper and alittle tarmac only. Maybe it supposed to be that way? So the only thing not correct is the flap cover is unclipped from the camera surround.

It seems this is as good as it gets for the cayenne rear camera l, predominately looks down at the bumper and not a lot else. But now has fixed it's self and pop opens and shut just fine so I'm to leave it alone.

So after a year this camera did stick again and wouldn't move out and in. 

Pulled of the trim panel, very easy just insert flat blade screw driver in the side hole and push the clip inwards and pull cover out gently. Repeat for other side and then gently pry out the Cover. 

 

Unplugged connectors for power and video signal. 

Unbolted the camera, removed back cover which broke cos it's brittle. 

Exposed the motor gear shaft and two work drive gears which connect to the barrels which drive the camera in and out. Pretty simple. 

The cog on the motor was jammed a bit and just some wiggling freed it up. Sprayed and cleaned all gears with solvent spray and then applied a small amount of Vaseline (I had nothing else to hand). Recommend a silicon based grease would be better. You really don't need hardly any to make it run just fine. 

All back together piece of cake.

The car is advertised, had an offer of 28,000dhs but holding out for more like 38,000 dhs

Lol the car is filthy, that's a job for later on.

The car market here is very bad, people like newer cars and not so much older models. Also the cost of parts and repairs is a factor for the second hand market. The latest offer is 30,000dhs.

I was really thinking about this. Your price is very low imo.

 

Usually it's working other way around. People ship their cars to Dubai when they move. But I see some offer transport from Dubai to Germany and Netherlands. Can you find out how much they charge?

Great. Fixed the clunk at the front, found some loose suspension bolts and the loose steering column bolt. Car feels great and is clean as a whistle. Went through test today just fine, tomorrow transfer to new owner and then concentrate on selling the Audi. !!!!

The new German owner messaged me About the check tail light and the four wheel drive faulty message. I passed him the contact of a indy garage here that has PIWIS and german owner. I did reassure him the four wheel drive fault isn't mechanical or a safety issue. 

They should get along great, his wallet and their services . .........

My prediction of his repair if he goes ahead will be replace TC servo and control module, and new rear comfort control module with reprogramming. About 4,000dhs at least. He will get off lightly, I spent 30,000dhs easily on that car in 18months.
