  3. Yes, It is bent as well. I've seen replacements for the plastic end pieces in brass and other metals. Those might end up lasting longer than OEM plastic ones.
  4. If you have trouble getting the plate positioned, a ratchet strap is a big help squeezing the uprights together.

  7. I just changed mine this week and used Motul gear 300 sae 75/90 API gl-4 / 5). Gearbox has always been a bit crunchy (second and third gear) and usually got a lot better when warm. Now the gearbox seems slightly better but not a lot. At least it seems this oil does the job just fine and is relatively cheap. Also, the bottles have a little soft plastic extrusion making it so you can fill the gearbox with a little bit of manoeuvring . I.e., no need for any special tools. Make sure you have something underneath to catch the possible spillages though since in my case the first bottle was a bit of a faff to get right.

  13. I had a similar problem on 996 and the Error Code pointed to a particular cylinder misfire. Replacing the coil solved the issue. The matter is if you have 2-3 misfires here and there the ECU will not throw the code as to throw the error code out the error needs to repeat itself 3 consecutive times and there are thresholds for every kind of errors like a particular number of misfires are counted as 1 error so with 2-3 misfires then the engine works normal (failing coil) the error counter resets and there is no check engine light. But you can scan if there are errors on your particular cylinder without the Check Engine lit up.

  15. A P0008 trouble code indicates an Engine Position System Performance issue in Bank 1. This means the engine control module (ECM) has detected a problem with the alignment or synchronization of the crankshaft and camshaft(s) in the first bank of cylinders. This can be caused by: A sticky or dirty VVT solenoid - I would change the oil and see if it gets better. Or depending on the mileage the VVT solenoid might need to be replaced.

  17. I've had problems with my 2007 4.8S Cayenne. At full operating temp I get delayed starting and then the EML came on. She then started stalling and has also started misfiring. Normally she starts on the button from cold and stalls after about 20 mins of driving but then doesn't stall again after the restart. My mechanic pulled a P0008 code and he has suggested replacing the VVT solenoid. I was also going to replace both the cam & crank position sensors at the same time. Has anyone else had this issue and, if so, what fixed your issue? Also is there just one VVT solenoid per bank?

  20. Are you sure your serial number is correct? The suggested number did not work - what do I do now? Most often when the code we give you does not work it is because the serial number came from an old card in the car rather than from the procedure stated above - or a typo in the serial number submitted. Double check the serial number you submitted using the procedure above again. If that does not work then you will need to contact a dealer or Becker. Becker charges to look up your code and some dealers also charge. Our program works maybe 99.9% of the time but we have no explanation why it doesn't always work.

Decided not to just go off what the PIWIS was telling me and get some measurements on my own, I unpinned the DME 7.8 wires connector C8,C24 for potentiometer 2,1 respectively and measured their voltage with key on. According a white paper I found on the Bosch throttlebodies these pots should be 5v-0v and 0v-5v ranges, sweeping through the ranges as the throttlebody moves so they should always be in agreement or within a specified tolerance of each other through the range. This doesn't match the 16v the DME is seeing. At this point just planning to send it off to ECU drs.

I am in the UK, it recently popped up, last time I have seen it it was ~2 years ago and was due to a bad battery, I am pretty sure the battery is bad again (mate tested it it the other day) but I disconnected the battery in hopes it would clear the fault (only disconnected the negative)

  25. In 1973 there was both a 62 liter fuel tank and an optional 85 liter tank. You might either check the volume or part number if possible.
  26. I am planning on replacing the fuel tank on my 1973.5 011T with CIS and am wondering what the proper replacement options are. My concern is that as a CIS IT might have different plumbing, barbs, etc. compared to other carburated and MFI long hoods. Similarly, the 1974 thru 1982(?) CIS G-Bodies might have a different tank as well (didn; they have a donut or inflatable spare). Any insight onto whether my half-year CIS model has a take un ique compared to the 1965-early 1973 or 1974+ cars would be most appreciated.

  29. My seat control module makes a clicking sound. Of different places, when I use the knob. And the seat motors don't seem like they're getting any power.
