  1. @oatmealadam did you check the crankcase vacuum, sometimes PCV valves these motors over vacuum & can cause lean misfires. Sent from my Passport using Tapatalk
  2. Your misfire may be due to carbon build up or a vacuum leak & not actually plug/coil related. Smoke test for vacuum leaks first, make sure the PCV isn't over vacuuming & remove the intake & look at the valves. You may need to walnut blast the carbon off the valves. Sent from my Passport using Tapatalk
  3. As crazy as this sounds, you most likely have a vacuum leak at the back (bottom) of intake manifold causing the lift control code. I had this same issue on mine. Basically it was a vacuum leak causing the lift control code (bank 2) Sent from my Passport using Tapatalk
  4. Hi all,Sorry for the late response, as for the work I described above, not too many parts here (intake + valve cover gasket sets, misc parts etc) probably totaling $250-300ish? Labor is roughly 8-12 hrs worth. The teardown is pretty much taking out the fuel injectors, intake manifold & valve covers, there are access holes to adjust the chain & while you're there carbon blast the intake ports (a must!). 30+ hours to do that work on a 4.8L sounds like much, IMO......Make sure the mechanic or garage you take it to has the fixtures to lock the cams on this type of engine, you want someone who's done this type of work before. These engines are like swiss watches, very precise & sensitive. Hope that helps?!
  5. The pig has 200km, I bought it from a friend with the CEL cam code on (I'm the 2nd owner). Mobil 0w40 services every 10-15K, I just changed it to Liquid Moly 10w60 RaceTech (runs better, doesn't burn). The crazy thing is he said this light was on since almost the beginning when he had it serviced at the dealer for something, which made me believe that it was a bent reluctor ring on the cam, but it looked good? I don't know.... this is why I asked if anyone has had any similar experiences with this. I have almost 20k in receipts since the beginning so I don't think it's been neglected.UPDATE :I recently got my Cayenne back from the shop & I want to report that my issues have been solved. The tech confirmed that problem was with the cam timing (both banks off) & proceeded to re-time the engine by locking the cams using a special fixture& re-adjusting the cam sprockets back to factory spec. While the intake manifold was off he carbon blasted the intake & replaced the plugs. The result.....no more engine light, smooth start up, quick snappy response & smoother transmission shift. Happy customer!
  6. Hey Cterry77,I've been waiting to post this, I just got my Cayenne S back from the shop (same year as yours). My issues were a cam code (bank 2) which came back immediately after clearing....caused a weird starting issue (crank/stop...crank/start) & a slight reduction in power. The shop traced the faults to the timing chain being out of sync. They took the intake manifold & valve covers off & re-timed the engine using special fixtures to lock the camshafts in place. Both banks were out of sync, since the intake manifold was out they carbon blasted the intake valves. Got it back and WOW, what a difference. Loads of power, transmission shifts better, no more starting issues. I forgot just how beautiful this engine really is.... I'm not saying that you're problem is the same as mine but my issues were solved :)

  8. Happy New Year! just to update, VVT actuator + cam sensor did nada... code came back right away. I was looking at the camshaft signals with the scan tool & it shows bank 1 having a 2 degree "out of target" reading (should be 130deg, reading 132deg). Looks like the bank 1 cam timing chain has stretched. Time to save up, lol!
  9. Hi everyone, I'm a happy owner of a 2008 Cayenne S. I have been living with a chronic CEL for a while, codes P0016 + P0344 (P0016 comes back immediately after clearing). It's related to intake cam position timing on bank 1. I'm hoping (more like praying) that it's not a stretched timing chain, I haven't read up on anyone doing many timing chains on the 4.8L, so I'm going to "reluctantly" throw a Cam Position Sensor & Variable Valve Timing Actuator at it & hope for the best. While the cam sensor is removed I will inspect the hall effect ring on the camshaft that many believe bend, causing erratic cam signal codes. I also have an intermittent starting issue I hope is related to this (computer not seeing cam position on bank 1??). Any Cayenne owners out there that have had these issues before & could share any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  10. Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone on the forum has a Denison or M0bridge setup on their PCM. I own a 2008 Cayenne S & I am looking (mainly) to have bluetooth cell phone & AUX capabilities. Not sure if you would recommend one over the other or if there is anything I should be looking for? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
  11. Efficiency or mixture codes are usually the cause of something other than Oxygen Sensors (degraded Cat, engine misfire etc). I would agree that the O2 sensor is not at fault..
  12. Sounds like you verified the problem when you boosted it. I'd say it's a battery, but you'll need a multimeter to measure the voltage drop when cranking
  13. +1 water & moisture will conduct electricity across a circuit board but once dried out completely should be restored.
