  1. I took the car to Porsche as my local specialist dealer did not have the necessary software for this reprogramming. After an initial reset, it was established the engine required a new sender. Once this was fitted, the engine was reprogrammed successfully and the instrument is now working correctly.
  2. Thanks all for your help. So, I took the car to a Porsche specialist this morning. On the way there, the temp gauge started working and the problem self cured. He plugged in his diagnostics and cleared the faults on the system, saying he reckoned the car had sat for some time with the battery disconnected and this often resulted in random codes. This is in line with other forum items on the subject, where clearing the car fault code cured the problem. By the way, it said 'instrument fault', no evidence of the car overheating and their was plenty of coolant.
  3. I have recently bought a 2005 987 2.7. The engine temperature instrument has just stopped working and the red light is flashing. The fault is reporting as instrument failure, I think the code is CDS T5. Any ideas? I hope its a simple fix...
