  1. Thanks JFP .. this maybe something that is out of my abilities. I will have to take it back to the dealer for this ...
  2. I have the P0452 CEL message on my 1999 C2 and replaced the tank pressure sensor. The sensor is located where Tool Pants pointed ... under the battery tray. It is a straight forward replacement. I swapped it out within 1/2 hr. The problem is it didn't fix the CEL problem and I'm stumped what else could be the problem. Any suggestions on what else could be causing the error? The car still drives beautifully, no hesitation, whatsoever ...
  3. The CEL has been with me for about 3 years and it only happens in the fall/winter period. It mysteriously disappears during the summer period. It is a 2008 Cayenne V6 (base). I’ve had the gas cap and purge valve replaced and the CEL (P0456) still appear during the cooler period. I used to have to reset the CEL every week or so but the code is appearing more frequently lately … within 1 -2 days. I've decided to drop by another local mechanic today whom I’ve dealt with once to replace my stabilizer bar links on my 996 in the fall of 2015. I explained the CEL code and the parts (cap and purge valve) I’ve replaced and asked if he has smoke machine he can use to diagnose the leak. He stated it is the “leak detection pump” which he said is a common problem for the Cayenne. He currently has a 09 Cayenne S on the hoist that he had just replaced the LDP with a similar problem. He quoted me about $750 (CDN) for parts and labour as he stated the LDP is about $450 and 2.5 labour. $750 is quite a bit of money to be paying to replace the LDP which I’m unsure is the source of the leak. Is the LDP a common evap emission problem for the Cayenne as he stated? Is it a fairly simple DIY project … I’ve been told it is located in the rear passenger wheel well.
  4. I believe my sunroof drain is blocked as well as I hear the sloshing sound coming from the rear driver area. The carpet is wet as well. I have running boards which prevents me from seeing the drain as pictured. Any suggestion on other ways of unclogging the drain? Thanks
  5. I bought a second set of key which requires cutting and programming for my 08 Cayenne. I brought it to the dealership yesterday to get the key cut and programmed when the consultant started asking me about the history of the car as he doesn't have it on file. I purchased it about a month ago and this is the first time I've taken it to the dealership. I left the car with them and it seems that the consultant had requested one of the mechanics to go through the car as I received a call an hour later that his mechanic had pointed out areas of concerns ... wheel alignment, spark plug replacement, and clogged drain. I declined both the alignment and spark plug replacement as I explained I will be looking to upgrade my wheels and will deal with the alignment at that time. As for the spark plugs, I told him I will consider it for another visit. However, he stated that the clogged drain should be looked at as it is a very common problem with Cayenne resulting in flooded interior causing other major problems such as electrical shorts. He told me they have a few Cayennes that came into the service center with this problem. He quoted me $175 for the service. He explained they needed to remove panels to perform the work which sounded quite labor intensive. Anyway, I agreed on it. If clogged drains is a common problem with Cayenne, is there a DIY on clearing the drain duct? I would hate to spend $175 having the dealer clear the drain whenever I visit them. Thanks
  6. I did some research on Lubrico warranty program and there has been quite a few complaints posted on the web ... mainly not wanting paying out for the repairs. I spoke with my mechanic about it and the key criteria is having the oil changed every 6 mths or 10,000 km (whichever comes first). A copy of receipt has to be provided to Lubrico within 15 days online, fax or mail. There is a $150 deductible per visit/incident ... unless I purchase the $0 deductible option. The program does not cover all fluids and diagnostic work and the limit is $5K per claim liability. He faxed me a copy of the terms/conditions which I've included. This is the only extended warranty plan he offers which honestly ... I'm quite uncomfortable with ... He is offering me at dealer cost. If I'm to purchase it, i will be including the Power Equipment Plus option which includes all electrical and electronics on the vehicle. I feel there is a need to get an extended warranty as my 911 cost me quite a bit over the 3 years since I purchased it. The latest problem I have is my voltage regulator and electric passenger seat switch ... which does not allow me to move the seat forward. The program would have covered practically all of it if I purchased it then. I guess the way to look at it is it cost $500/yr insurance for this additional sense of comfort. 2620_001-1.pdf
  7. It has 74K km. I should ask my mechanic about Lubrico as he is also a service center for Lubrico.
  8. I'm currently negotiating and is in the midst of finalizing purchasing a 08 Cayenne from a local dealer (non Porsche dealer). One of the conditions I have is getting a full tune up on the car .... plug replacement, oil change, fuel filter. Should I request having the transmission fluid change and the Diff fluid, and coolant change as well? The mechanic at this dealership who will be doing the work is very knowledgeable with Porsche and is our regular mechanic for our 911. Also, they are offering a 3rd party warranty program from Lubrico which I'm considering. The cost is about $2K for their Superior protection including their Power Equipment Plus for 4 years/80,000 kms. The Power equipment plus program covers the electrical and electronic components. Here is the link to their warranty program ... http://www.lubrico.com/coverage.html As I am unsure the reliability of the car, is it worth the extra $2K? The dealer is about to draft a bill of sale and I would like to ensure I include inspections of problematic areas the 08 Cayenne may have. I appreciate any inputs/feedback you can offer. Thanks
  9. Thanks for the quick reply. I'll get the parts ASAP so that I can finish my spark plug replacement. I'll look at replacing my fuel filter next. Hopefully there won't be any surprises...
  10. I undertook a project this labour day weekend to replace the spark plugs on my 99 C2 which turned out very disappointing. Once I removed my rear wheels, I discovered the spark plug shields were missing and the spark plug coils were only held in place with one bottom screw. I bought the car used back in 07 and had the car inspected by a mechanic referred by the dealer. The mechanic did not mention the missing shields and screws in his report. Well, I'm glad the exposure of the coils to the elements did not damage the coils I've replaced the plugs on the driver side and did not want to replace the passenger side until I obtain the screws and shields. Does anyone know the part number of the spark plug shields (both left and right)? I'll check Pelican and Suncoast for them. Thanks
  11. I replaced mine a few months ago and it wasn't that difficult. There is a good step by step instruction which helped tremendously. Run a search and you should find it.
  12. I was shopping online for the mounts and came upon 2 manufacturers ... Corteco and Hamburg Technic. Corteco seems to be the more common product carried by most online vendors including Pelican Parts selling for about $130 each. The Hamburg Technic is off eBay by Deutchepart USA for $144 for 2 mounts. I also contacted Jeff at Sunset Import and he quoted $144 for each mount. Has anyone any experience with the Coteco and Hamburg Technic mounts? The vendors claim they meet or exceed OEM specification.
  13. I jacked up my 996 yesterday at the engine jack point looking to remove my rear wheels for tire replacement. As I jacked up the car, there was black fluid dribbling out of the rear right side of of the engine. I thought it was oil and checked my oil level which is fine. I proceeded to taste it ... which taste similar to coolant fluid. I proceeded to check my coolant level which seems fine as well. I removed my air filter box trying to trace where the fluid is coming from .... it seems to be around the engine mount area. Question .... is there fluid stored in the engine mount? Could it be the mount or I'm missing another hose that could be the culprit for the leak? Thanks
  14. Loren, the fans at the front are working as well
