    So I had the car towed to a great independent shop. On visual inspection of the engine compartment, they found a rat's nest and the starter cable had apparently been chewed into two. A relatively easy repair. Thank you to Scan Automotive in North Vancouver!

    My 2006 Boxster S will not start. Windows, lights, radio and accessories all work, but starter does not turn at all. I replaced the battery and still no luck. Fuses look ok. Clutch pedal switch seems to work ok. I’ve tried repeatedly locking and unlocking the car with the fob and also with the key. Same. Any one have ideas? Immobilizer issue perhaps? I’m out in the country and would be a long tow to the nearest city ! Any help appreciated!

    So I removed the AOS and replaced it. The old AOS had a tear in the membrane as per the photo below. Now all I need to do is clear the Check Engine code.

    An update: I changed the serpentine belt, but the same noise came back. Today my car threw a check engine light. I cannot remove the oil cap. I suspect AOS has failed. Time to check the code, but I really suspect AOS.

    Hi everyone. My 2006 Boxster S suddenly started making a squealing noise. Noise goes away at higher RPM, only to come back at lower RPM and at idle. Not related to gear or clutching at all. Noise seems loudest at the rear of the car; I can hardly hear it inside with the windows closed. Is this a serpentine belt issue? Or the bearing of some engine accessory? I have 50,000 miles, and have already changed the serpentine belt once, around 4-5 years ago, just due to age of the car. I have not yet had the time to open up the engine compartment to look further. If it's a belt, then I would expect more noise from inside the cabin, would I not? I have attached a recording indicating the squeal going away when I rev the engine. Recording 26.wav

    Thanks, Loren. I confirm that your method worked easily and very quickly. The only difficult was getting the hose off the white T-piece. I used a flat screwdriver to pry it off carefully. Hopefully no paint or plastics will be damaged!

    Hi everybody. After getting my clutch and slave cylinder replaced at an independent shop, it appears they inadvertently added brake fluid to my washer reservoir. Every time I spray the windshield, an oily coating that smells like brake fluid leaves a film. Any idea how this might be cleaned out? Or does the washer system need replacement now that it has been fouled?

    I finally had to change the battery in my 2016 Boxster S. When I bought the car used, it already had this Autocraft aftermarket battery in it. I'm not sure why, as it would have been under warranty then. That Mexican made battery lasted almost 10 years. I have put around 40,000 miles on the car, mostly on the freeway, over those years.

    Hi, my 2006 Boxster is due for service soon. I am planning to do it myself. Does anyone in Vancouver, BC, or the lower mainland have access to a PIWIS tester or Durametric software so that I can reset my service reminder after doing the service? Many thanks

    This happened to me ( 2006 Boxster). I took it to the dealer, and they found the refrigerant had all leaked out. They refilled the refrigerant and added a "dye" to indicate where the leak might be. that was two years ago, and it has not leaked again.

    I agree with the above posts. A clay bar really cleans the surface of the paint before waxing. It does not scratch the car, and is actually quite easy to do.

    Thanks, Maurice. I had a good look at it, and indeed there is a screw in the center of the cowl that was loose. Tightening that screw did not correct it, though, because the hidden wiper assembly was still somehow rubbing against the cowl from the inside. . I had to loosen the two bolts at the far left and far right of the cowl, spent about an hour trying to center it all, and I think I finally got it so that the wiper assembly no longer hits the plastic cover.

    I have a 2006 Boxster S Driving home in the rain yesterday, I noticed a sound from the wipers. When I looked, it seems one of the wipers, where it comes through the cowling, rubs against the plastic , making the plastic cowling move back and forth. Has anyone experienced this before?

    Consider a faulty crakshaft position sensor. If these overheat, they can fail, not allowing the car to start, but temporarily come "back to life" after the engine cools down a bit.
