I took my 2002 Targa to Porsche to figure out why the car would not lock. After about $5K of various and sundries that I cannot remember (I want to forget) -- the car locks. But, at the end, the mechanic told me that they something was wrong with the memory seat control unit and that to get the car to lock, they had to unhook it. Now--I know all of these things seem to be tied together in a Porsche--so, at that point, the guy just put the seat in a middle position and I left with $5K less in my pocket, a car that could now lock, but a driver's seat that cannot be adjusted. He said something about how it could be plugged in temporarily to move it, but then the car wouldn't lock, etc. Argh! So---they quote me around $1500 to replace the memory seat control unit. Is this something I can buy and replace fairly simply myself? My backside is getting pretty sore. Thank you Michael

I hooked up the battery and charged it with a trickle charger. Charged to full over night. Shows 14 volts on the gauge. Guess that's about right. Problem still exists. I noted that my seat belt, when fully extended, seems to be a bit damp--both of them. Maybe they are just cold -- but they kind of feel damp, so I thought--ok, let's check the drains. Front ones near the battery were fine. Nothing clogging. Cleaned it out a bit and blew compressed air down. Pour water through them and water came out below fine. Checked the front drains of the car with the Targa roof retracted. They were clear as well. Blew air and poured water through. I could not see the entrances (holes) to the rear drains, so I semi-gave up, hoping the problem would go away. Alas, and not surprising, the problem still exists. The interior lock button sometimes 'works' and sometimes does not. The car 'beeps' when locking sometimes and sometimes not. The driver's seat moves forward and back sometimes and sometimes does not respond to the switch. Today, was warm and sunny so I went out on the hunt for the rear drain 'entries'. I could not find them. I did find the kind of pop in, pop out funnels from the targa roof to the side roof drains. They were properly placed. While doing that, I noted that the 'mesh' along the driver's side of the rear roof (rear roof opened on the Targa) was very damp. The passenger side was not. This semi-confirmed in my head that the 'rear roof drain' on the driver's side must be clogged. I poured some water from into the open sliding roof. Water came out behind the rear wheel. But, maybe it drains slowly--dunno. So--I pulled the rear wheel based on what I had read on some posts to see if the exit point might be somewhat clogged. I pulled the plastic covering from the wheel well hoping to see the exit point-but nothing there. I poured water again from the open roof and noted water exiting kind of from the rear portion of the wheel well--but not from some clear exit point but kind of from a metal seem. I cannot find the entry hole for the rear roof drain and I cannot find the exit hole for the rear roof drain. I've looked thought the diagrams, etc and I cannot find it. At this point, i'm about to take the poor thing into Porsche and throw my hands and wallet in the air. I'm afraid the electronics are a bit compromised (I checked under the seats and I didn't really find it damp and certainly not damp--but the car was covered (Porsche cover) and out in some heavy rain for two weeks a while back) by moisture/condensation. And--the 'mesh' on the left of the rear roof was defintely damp/wet but I cannot find where the drains are. To the shop or another idea? Thanks for your help

2002 Targa Has been a bit humid inside the car, but not wet. Now, when I close the driver's door, the side window, opens slightly and then closes back--and repeats. A lot. I open the door and sometimes this stops the behavoir and sometime is does not. Repeat until it stops. When I go to lock the car, I get a horn beep--which as I understand means something is not closed properly. I open and close the doors and then it goes away--but I swear, the doors are closed properly Today---pouring rain. I go to turn on the headlights--turn the knob. Will only physically turn to the parking lights--not all the way to the right for the full headlights. I pulled out the switch to put on the fog lights and they came on fine. I tried to turn it to full lights while pulled out, but it wouldn't budge. Something appears to be funky with the electrics. Clues? Thanks for you help!

I have a 2002 Targa living in Florida. I've had no problems until it turned colder. Now I have pretty heavy condensation on the windows every morning and any chilly afternoon. I've read through the forum and checked all of the drains. They all seem to be clear. I've also felt around and checked for moisture on the carpet etc. I don't seem to feel anything in particular. It might be a little wet on the front right passenger carpet--up against the wall---but just slightly perhaps. And, I've gone over all of the rubber seals on the doors, roof, lid (Targa) etc. I do see a bit of a tear on the read lid. I stored the car under a car cover for 2 weeks a week ago. I came back, opened it up and it was really quite damp in the car. The guages had condensation even the manuals inside the glove box. I suppose this was simply because I have something leaking 'under' the car cover and the moisture built up quite a bit. It did rain a lot (but again--under a cover--not water proof I guess (Porsche brand). Bottom line is that the only thing that 'seems' wrong is a rip in the seal of the Targa rear lid. It's not all that bad--but perhaps it's bad enough. But, I don't want to go replacing that if it is not really the problem. Any thoughts appreciated. Thank you

I have a 2004 Cayenne S. Grey interior. A few things don't function correctly and I'd like to fix them up if it's not too hard and I can find the parts. I'd appreciate advice on how hard it is to fix these and where to go to find parts. Center console trim. This is the trim panel that basically covers the center console--goes around the shift trim piece, cup holders etc. Mine is pretty scratched up. Hard to replace? I have found lots of 'trim kits' but I like the original grey/metal look in the car and only need this piece. Any advice where to find? Latch for center console 'box'. I found the latch at Suncoast. Is this difficult to replace? Sunglass holder. The holder is there and is fine--it's the latch. I seem to be missing half the latch. I put some coins in there to keep it closed now--which keeps it shut, but I'd like to put the proper latch in to actually use it again. Can't seem to find this latch. Easy to replace? Front cigarette lighter does not function. No power coming from it. Not really sure what is wrong on this one. AC buttons. All of this works fine--but the button are scraped up. Can you buy just the buttons somewhere? Hard to replace them? Metal 'Cayenne S' trim 'entry strips/lights'. These are the metal strips that you go over coming into the car. They work fine--but one front and one rear just don't stay attached anymore. I've tried all kinds of glues. I live in Florida and it seems the extreme heat is just not helping. Got an idea for some great adhesive to use? Thanks for you help.

I recently bought a 2002 Targa. When I turn on the parking lights, the side markers come on and the rear lights come on--but no lights are on in the front of the car. Is this normal? When I lock and unlock the car, the 'yellow lights' in the bottom half of the headlights flash. Shouldn't those light when the parking lights are on? Thanks for your help

I have a 2004 Cayenne S. Almost 80K miles. Been great. Basically no problems. The other day, I'm driving along and the sun roof starts opening and closing on its own (popping up). It was moving like I was pushing the button. I pushed the button and it seemed to kind of reset and I haven't seen that problem since. The past couple of days, I go to turn the ignition and it flashes the 'battery' warning (red battery light) but starts. I noted that the clock was back to 12--lost its time. But, it doesn't seem to have low battery power. It starts and the lights are strong, etc. But it was like the electrical system had reset or something. This evening, I come out of a store. Turn the key and it won't start. Like the battery is 'almost' dead. Tried it twice and same thing. Then I tried one more time and it started like 'normal'--plenty of battery power. Any help appreciated. Thank you Michael

Thanks Loren. When I look at them, I don't see any kind of tape residue though. I've tried the usual 'gorilla glue' and things of this sort. I didn't know if you had to get some kind of special glue --- example--the glue that holds on the rear view mirror to the windshield. Michael

I have a 2004 Cayenne S. Moved to Florida a few months ago and everyone of the aluminum door sills (the lighted 'Cayenne' things) has come lose. They are held to the car using some plastic holders which attach--with glue?--to the aluminum sills. The glue has melted or something. I have not been able to find a glue that will re-attach (and hold) the plastic 'things' back to the aluminum. Any help with this would be most appreciated! Michael

So, need to remove my headlamps. Went to the trunk, lifted the inside lid and see this nice little set of tools in a styrofoam holder. Unfortunately, it seems to have some missing tools, including the wrench for removing the headlamps. I read that this is a hex wrench of sorts. Is it best to go to Porsche and buy a new one or can I just purchase some size of female hex wrench for this? Size? Thank you Michael

I have a 2004 Cayenne S. I purchased the car used from a dealer about a year and a half ago. I drove it off the lot and noticed 'gerbils' in the dashboard. Drove straight back to the dealer. Car was gone for a few days and came back 'fixed'. The 'gerbils' have returned along with 'wind rushing' and 'creaking' noises. These are essentially in the dash, but also, now, down by the drivers feet area. It seems that this happens when the climate control system is heating and not when in AC. Not 100% sure on that. So, I searched a saw a few things out there. Basically, read that 'some say this is expensive to fix' and 'servo motors'. I have heard I need to remove the entire dash from the car. Questions: 1. What is not working correctly? 2. Do it yourself or just too complex? 3. If I take it to a shop, how much $$$ to fix? Thank you Michael

OK...latest little thing on my Cayenne S 04. I have a problem opening the center console--the 'box' just behind the cup holders. I can open the bottom portion just fine, but when I push on the upper button to open the top portion--won't budge. Seems to have a lot of slack. I have moved it around, pushed the button hard/soft. Pried it a bit :o Nothing opens it. Any help appreciated! Otherwise, seem to have a similar problem opening the glove box. Sometimes it opens; sometimes it doesn't. Do I just need to replace something or tighten something? Thanks Michael

I have a friend that has totaled his Cayenne :o I was thinking of pulling his Xenon 'system' and replacing my standard headlights on a 2004 Cayenne S(his is same S and year, but with Xenons). Can anyone tell me what parts I need to take to make this work? My thoughts are: - lamps - bulbs - transformer/relay 'thingy' - wiring harness??? Anything else?? Does the transformer/relay 'pack' have the control system in it?? Thank you!
