  1. How about a Work on Cars Event sometime in July (2011) in the East Bay? - Specific location TBD Post or PM if interested!
  2. Fun photos-- It's interesting to see how different the brilliant white is from the barritz white. Thanks for sharing :)
  3. What: Work on Cars Event in Walnut Creek or Fremont-- Specific location is TBD Date: Sunday, Dec 6, 2009 @ 11:00am Who: Anyone with a Porsche! Address: PM me for it This is a follow up to the 11/15 Sunnyvale work on cars event that Max held at his home. Feel free to join us-- We will be finishing a few OBC Hacks (be sure to bring your parts!) and doing a few other small winter maintenance items. Bring any tools you need.
  4. (BMW part #: 61.13.6.909.058) Let's aim for a follow up Work-on-cars day the 1st weekend of December-- How about Sunday, December 6th?
  5. ** Update ** Tool Pants brought his System Tester to the work on Cars event-- he was able to do what the Dealer claimed would not work and enabled the OBC. It turns out the Option Code Spec was missing from the computer. Once we enetered it, we were able to access and enable the OBC. The software faults on the Instrument Panel & AC (from the radio change) were non-issues. Now that the OBC is enabled, I'll order the parts. If anyone is having a similar issue and needs more details-- let me know.
  6. Nice work all! Thank you for all your help & expertise Tool Pants! I'll order my OBC control stalk assembly this week along with Maxodus for his car & his friend's car. We'll do another WOC event after thanksgiving-- Aiming for 1st week in December. At the very least, this should give us 3 cars for the retrofit. Thanks again!! :)
  7. Awesome! Hopefully Tool Pants will bring it to the Work on Cars event tomorrow. Otherwise I'll come up to Roseville and treat you to lunch! :) Thanks Loren!
  8. ok-- I'm trying to complete the On-Board Computer (OBC) Hack to enable the OBC on my 2003 Boxter-- But, it seems I'm unable to bypass a software instrument fault using the new System Tester to get to the OBC options to enable it. I swapped out my Radio last year for a new DVD/NAV system. Doing so obviously created a Fault in the computer for the instrument Panel & AC (since the old radio talks to both)... No big deal-- except, I did not have the dealer enable the On-board computer beforehand. Now, with the new touch screen System Testers, the dealer seems unable to bypass the fault to enable the OBC. They think it's possible with the old PST2 testers-- I obviously do not own one and the dealers don't seem to have them anymore. Any ideas or suggestions? Putting the old radio back in is not a viable option... Here is a picture of the old PST2 -- If you have one & live in Northern California, please let me know!! :)
  9. If anyone has a PST2-- please, please, please bring it! :) I would like to use it enable the On-board computer to do the OBC Hack. Since I changed my radio, I'm unable to have the dealer change it for me. The new dealer testers do not have the ability to override/make changes to items that have faults. (Changing the radio creates a fault on instrument panel & AC). Thanks!! A picture of the PST2
  10. Haha, now that's a luxury bottle opener! I'll bring some food for everyone to grill. Let me know if anyone has meet/vegi preferences. Maxodus, send me a count of how many people you expect as the date gets closer. :)
  11. Sounds like fun-- I'm in. I have some maintenance work and would be interested in the OBC hack. I should find the part # & order the arm from Sun Coast if we're going to do it.
  12. I'm planning on painting my calipers red in a few weeks (mid to late march 2009). If anyone in the Bay Area has interest in doing a similar project at the same time, let me know.
  13. Anyone interested in a Bay Area work on cars day? Due to the holidays, a number of us should have a bit of free time this month into the next. I'll be glad to host it at may place in the East Bay (there is plenty of room), or I'm up for other options (South/North Bay etc...) There are number of new mods I'd like to work on as well as a sound system overhaul. Any suggestions on dates? I'm flexible.
  14. I'm up for it (even if it is a year later then you posted about it!)-- I want to do the OBC hack and a few other mods. Anyone in the bay area interested in a work on your car day?
