    All I did, was a buy a 986 Bose subwoofer system off of Ebay. I hard wired the subwoofer and speakers to my 986 harness. I don't have the subwoofer amped but I get what I like from the system. The stock 220 system boosts just enough power to drive the subwoofer and rear speakers. All you need to do is ballance the rear deck sub and speakers with the fader control. BOOM! It works. :clapping:

    OK...I replaced the rear deck of my 02 986 with the Bose subwoofer box that I got on EBAY for $350. All I did was make a loom for the wiring to the Bose rear deck subwoofer from the stock amp. It works great and you don't have to buy the Bose amp. Yes, it's only a tad under power, but it works good enough if you plan to keep your CDR-220 in your machine. I get good lows and highs from this set up.

    I just added the Bose subwoofer and speaker system to my 02 986. The sound is good and deep. :unsure: All I did was upgrade the rear speaker shelf with the Bose rear subwoofer system and make a loom so I could plug the Bose into the CDR-220 stereo. I get the bass with out the high price tag. :renntech: :clapping: As for the amp replacement, I would see exactly what I want to do. Other wise you can a good used amp on EBAY for about $35-$150 and keep your existing system.

    Go with an ALPINE Unit, if you want a good stereo. You'll have to buy the connector harness. About $15.00. You'll want to change the speakers and get rid of the factory speakers.

    It looks cleaner than attaching to the dash or some other place. I'm thinking about installing a IHF1000. I know I don't want to drill into the dash....

    Any one know of a good bluetooth system for the Boxster? I don't care too much for the wires to be showing. So I'm looking for a good bluetooth to intergrate with my CDR-220. Any ideas? Dave I found a decent bluetooth system for my Boxster...I bought a Parrot CK3100...installed it. Not very intrusive at all. The little mic that comes with the kit is very dinamic.. It picks up a lot! Easy to install...I checked with ED&AL's Stereo...they wanted $200, to install the Kit...if you can read and use a screw driver and snips, you can do the install....

    Get a Boxster manual and do ALL of your own maint. You can find any maint DIY on this site.....Have Fun! :renntech:

    <_< :notworthy: I just installed the PNP 986 Rear speaker up grade....WHAT A DIFFERANCE!! Got mine off of EBAY..$255 included shipping. Took about two hours to install. Very easy to do....Just the little things that have to be done make it a nuisance. :censored: But, worth the money...... :clapping: So, the only problem is running the new wire bundle from the rear of the car to the front, in the channel. It is very tight in there and very hard to get your fingers in there to move the wiring along. I guess if you wanted to, you could "phish" the wire bundle under the carpet towards the front. I think that would save you several mintes of agrivation. Other than that, a very easy install...Anyone know of a good subwoofer system?

    OK..It works. I had to pay WALTER's Porsche, in Riverside, CA. $105 for them to program the system. They were actually surprised that some one would try a retro of a CDC-4. I told them that they wanted to charge me $500, for the install. So, I did it my self. It really is not any harder than installing a CDC-3. Just a couple of more wires. They are nice people at Walter's Porsche. But, you would think that if you pay a good amount of money for a car, they would kick in a few freebies. :cursing: I'm going to attempt to make a video of the install process for the retro of the CDC-4. I won't promise anything, but I'll try.....So, thanks to Toolpants for his answers.
