  1. take a look at tire balance as well... Mine had a bit of a shake and I thought it was the rotors. When I had different wheels put on the shaking went away. When it was at the shop I looked at the pads and it looked like there was plenty of life left in them.
  2. Anyone can give me any info on where to find the DME Test Plan for a 1984 911? Can it be bought or downloaded from anywhere?
  3. What weight of oil should I use in my 84 911? is synthetic needed? I live in socal so its usually warm even though our winter just kicked in. I searched but couldn't find a clear answer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  4. +1 The DIY is very good here. Correct, 4 places. Be careful when you do the oil tank, it will dump oil all over the place. I run 0W40 in SoCal and it runs fine... some track days on it as well and no issues.
  5. Can you use a Durametric to see if you have a ECU flash? I have a 996 Turbo and the previous owner said it was tuned. I want to verify if it was or not, would the Durametric do it and if so, how?
  6. What does the drive link function do? I'll try when i get home but want to know what it does first.
  7. unplug the battery when the engine is running. if the engine dies, the alternator is bad. if the car still runs, the alternator is fine.
  8. Could I please get a code as well 01 996tt cdr-220 type 4462 serial y5037123 thanks
  9. Where is a good place to put a jack stand? I wasn't able to find one while working on my car a few weeks back. Stephan
  10. I do have the Durametric. How do I use it to help me more. I just got it and haven't played around too much with it.
  11. I bought the car used. It sat for a few years without it being driven. When I got it, I replaced the air filter and filled up the fuel tank (It was towed to my house from cross country and there was no fuel it in when it arrived). I drove it around town for a little and it kind of ran rough when I got near home and the check engine light turned on. When I checked the light it was a misfire on cylinder 5... then I changed the spark plugs and moved all the coils around. This is where I am at... a few weeks ago it was freezing here at night. I might go try to find some Methyl and put it in there to see if that might help... is that all I ask for at a hardware store? If that doesn't work, I'll check all the fuel lines and see if I can figure out why it wouldn't be getting fuel... do you think its just cylinder 5 not getting it or all of the engine?
  12. I went by the dealer and the car doesn't have a serviceable fuel filter. It is built into the fuel pump and I'd have to drop the fuel tank to get to it. Any other ideas to look at?
  13. What is methyl hydrate? Where do I buy it from and how much do i put in it? Thanks for everything... I will look into the fuel filter.
