  1. No, proably what I wil do is: - attach female spade on to un-used (+) terminal in fuse box (slot without a fuse that is + only with the ignition on) - run a wire with an in-line fuse to my unit - attach ground to an approriate source Do you have self dimming mirrors? easy to tap into for your unit.
  2. I am looking to hardwire a radar unit to a 12V source (controlled by ignition source). What have others used? Cigarette lighter (not an option, I use a battery charger here). Canabalize the 12 V accesory plug in the passenger wheel well (I never use this anyway)? Run a wire directly to the fuse box? Other potential options?
  3. I am the area needed to bring an external wire from the engine bay to the interior of the car (exposure of the rear grommet) - see picture. The area circled in red is the safe grommet to poke through correct? Once I make a slit and feed a wire feeder through - where will I end up in the engine bay? I plan on feeding a wire for a radar unit from the rear license plate area to the interior. What's the best path to take? Do you eventually go behind the heat shield that seperates the rear part of the plastic bumper from the engine? In orther words, what is the best route from the rear grommet to the externeal license plate area? Addtionally any suggestions on routing the wire from the rear grommet to the dashboard area? Follow the wiring the hugs the console? Other paths to follow? Lift up the carpet? If so any tips on doing it? This path? (not my car in photo)
  4. I am trying to gain acess to the area behind the front bumper (see picture). I wnat to get to the space behind the back plastic area (identified in RED in the picture below). Rather than pull the front bumper, it seem the easiest way to get to this area would be to remove the front under body panel - is this a tough job?
  5. Gromet to allow passage through the firewall was easy to find. Going through this gromet will allow acess to the footwell area of the car. I removed the plastic trim in the front trunk area as I plot my path to get some wires from the front bumper area to this gromet. It seems my challange is, how do I get the wires out of the front trunk area and into the compartment that holds the battery? I could drill a hole through the metal wall that seperates the battery compartment area from the front cowl area. Is this what they do when they install a CD changer and route the wires. There is no access holes behind the carpet on the verticle wall near the power booster for the MC of the brake system. Behind this device, there is a 2nd rubber grommet (see next picture) that seems to allow the passage of wires to the battery bay. The grommet is visable on the battery compartment side, but covered on the front cowl side. There is a small amout of space between this device and the back wall of the cowl (@ 6 mm). I am thinking that I could make a hole in the grommet and thread a metal hanger-like wire to pull the other wires through. It seems it would be easier to move this device (not sure how to). There were 2 large screws up top that I took off, but it still sits solid. Any ideas? Here is an image of the grommet on the battery compartment side (this is located in fron of the battery on the passenger side of the car. The from of this grommet is blocked by the black plastic box seen in the other pictures.
  6. I am running some wires for radar from my front grill area to the interior of the car. I have an established path from: - the exterior of the car to thr front bonnet (liner has been removed) - to the interior of the car (grommet near the battery on the firewall) I am having some problem finding a path from the "front tunk" area to the grommet on the firewall. It seems that the compartment that seperates the battery area from the trunk area is all metal. Any tips on the best path to take to get 3 small wires into the storage area for the battery?
  7. I am in the processing of installing a hardwire hidden radar into my 997. I am looking for help regarding: 1. The best route to run a wire from the front bumper to the interior 2. The best route to run from the rear license plate to the interior 3. How to remove various trim pieces in the interior and the front bonnet. I have found various sources on line that cover some things. What would make my life a lot easier would be any schnematics or manuals out there that show the interior trim pieces and how they are held in place and come off. Any help out there?
