  1. I know that this is an old post, but I recently updated my Dension firmware to the latest (2.22). While updating, I can hear small popping sounds from the speakers and the unit appeared to reset itself. Pressed the power button to turn it off then on then had an error saying that the Amp, etc... was not available. No sound from any source (CD, bluetooth, AM/FM). Switched the bypass switch (by the blue light) on the Dension to off then back on. Things appear to be working correctly now, though I have not tried the "new feature" of turning the iphone4's speakers on for alerts when the source is switched to FM. Inspecting the USB drive reveals that the firmware update file has been erased and the *.bin file says version 2.22 - so I guess things are now alright. Hope this helps someone down the road...
  2. Thanks, Paul. That's helpful info. At least I know not to baby the presently patched tire. Also glad to know that at least they are honoring what they (the dealers) promised, even if a patch would have been okay. Along the same lines: If I get a flat and I'm in the middle of nowhere, is the tire repair kit any good? Or should I consider the tire ruined once I use one of those on it?
  3. Thanks for info! Since it's only a month old, I suspect that I should be okay - but will have them check the tread wear once the new tire arrives. I was told by the dealer NEVER to have the tires patched. I don't know if they were just trying to sell me the tire insurance, though... They did patch my present tire - but later said that they'll replace it.
  4. Hello. I've had my 2007 997.1 only for about a month and already have found a nail on my right rear tire. Luckily, I opted for tire insurance from my dealer and they are ordering a replacement. Although the tires were new, this is a daily driver (60 miles per day). Should I worry about the car getting out of "balance" with a single new rear tire? Thanks!
  5. Good to know! Maybe I'll stop worrying about a dying battery. Thanks!
  6. I'm using an iphone. I just discovered the mobile Safari version of the site after I couldn't get tapatalk to work - and it seems to lack a few features: like a place to look for your past conversations/threads.
  7. Been using tapatalk to access the site and have had no problems previously. Today, it won't let me sign in despite multiple attempts. I can log in using the mobile site and the regular web site.
  8. Thanks. I guess I'll have to schedule a visit to the dealer to make sure there are no fault codes. Without comparing similar cars side by side, it's pretty hard to say what really is normal. It is comforting to hear that not everyone's car is "instant on" and maybe I really don't have a problem. Appreciate the inputs!
  9. I've had my 08 Targa 4S for about a month and it does seem to crank slowly , also. It has a brand new battery, so guess it's normal. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the main reason the key is on the left is so drivers can get to start the car fast (LeMans start), put it in gear, and go. Waiting for the engine to fire up seem to defeat that design.
  10. Thanks, guys! I'm in "observation mode" right now but wondering if there is anything I need to do.
  11. Hello. I'm new here with my new-to-me 07 997.1 and am still learning the feel of the car. I'm concerned that it doesn't seem to start as quickly as I expect. When starting, the engine would take 5-6 "turns" before the engine finally starts. Starts each time, though, but this is quite different from the BMW I used prior to this. Is this normal? I've searched the forums and have found several posts on cranking but am not clear if it's the same problem (most would not start, or have a very slow crank). Would have it checked at the dealer if I have to but time is not a luxury right now...
  12. Am new here and been reading a lot of posts. Very useful site! Loving my new to me 07 997.1! Thought about the same and wondered if there's one available for the i-devices. Looks like there's Dashcommand and Rev at the app store but have not tried either. Would be helpful to get people's opinions.
