  1. I wonder if anyone has tried to switch the left side +- button? I hate the way it is designed for down shifting . I want the + button on the left side of the steering to be downshift.
  2. now, my wife complains that it feel slow! she is pissed when I told her that she was out of her mind I don't get it
  3. http://www.photoshop.com/users/westladog/albums/6d45c4bf49314e6986acfa726bf3a3d0/view#026edd03a0454321a4a9f64e2b259562 1999 Boxster Manual Tranny 71,000 Miles I purchased this boxster 11 months ago when it only had 50k miles. It's been great. No issues. I'm not sure what to make of this recent finding. Thanks
  4. Hi Guys, I'm totally depressed because I can't get pissed off at my wife. I've spent hours and even days washing and waxing this vehicle but all it took was one night parking in front of her sister's house was all it took to get major water spots everywhere due to the sprikler system. I've tried clay bar, polish, and waxing but I'm still seeing the water spots. If I can't remove the spots, I'm going to treat this vehicle like and other car in the house and just let it be....i dont care anymore.... I'm so pissed Help!
  5. I live in California and it's summer now so the temperature will average in the 80's F. According to the manual, it recommends 15w-40, 20w-40, and 20w-50. I'm more concerned about the SL/SM API certification though because the manual says API SH. I'm not to concerned though because I'll change it back to full synthetic in about 4000 miles but yes I agree that I did made a mistake. :)
  6. I should have waited for your response! :) I hope my wife wont find this thread because she will not like what I just did to her car. ....switching to conventional oil....
  7. Too late now... :) It's already in the car.....I guess I'll switch back to synthetic 5k miles from now. And it only costs me $10 for the nice guy to put the boxster on the lift and changed the oil for me! $40 total for oil and labor! Yahoo!
  8. My oil change interval is usually around the 7k miles mark. Today, I went to a local autoparts store to get some Mobil 1 Synthetic but I saw the VR1 Racing oil for $3/qt. I took a chance and bought it because it was so cheap compare to the Mobil 1. Since it said "racing oil", I'd figure it can't hurt because I'm not racing. Right? Also, instead of synthetic, I just went with the conventional because my oil change interval is shorter than what Porche recommends anyway.....right? :)
  9. There are two leads going to this switch. Are you saying that I connect the two alligator clips to the two leads? I was going to ziptied the switch but she told me to remove it because it would be dangerous if she or someone else accidentally start the car in gear and not depressing the clutch pedal. I'm always careful to start my car in neutral but she told me that she starts it in gear all the time. (I ran out to the garage and remove the ziptie!)
  10. For sure! I'm willing to trade my ride for hers anyday. She can drive my 1994 Acura Integra.
  11. I just called the maker of Durametric. They said "no!". :)
  12. ROW DME? Is that an option within the Durametric software? I don't think you can "bump-start" the car with a bad clutch interlock switch. Not sure if it disables the ignition or just the circuit to the starter solenoid. That issue with bunched up carpets under the clutch pedal that "whall" mentions is a fairly common problem, so make absolutely sure that there is nothing restricting the full movement of the clutch pedal. If it annoys you, you can jump the two sides of the switch with a small piece of wire, but then you have to remember to have the clutch depressed or the tranny in neutral so as to avoid having the car lurch forward when you turn the key (like in the old days). The ROW DME program allows the car to be started without having to step on the clutch. Regards, Maurice.
  13. Definitely, the carpet was bunched up when it came back on a flarbed. :( I was able to start the boxster but a few minutes later I wasn't. I have to drive it myself for a few days to learn more about this problem. So she could have bumped-start it? I should have told her to try that....
  14. The engine was not able to turn over at all. Nothing. I can't even hear a clicking when I turn the key. I just connected the durametric and no codes came out. Now, this time I really made sure that I depress the clutch pedal down really hard....it started! So I was able to replicate the problem. If I depress it normally, it would not start. But if I really concentrate and press it down all the way down, it would start. clutch interlock switch? what the heck is that?
