  1. I have a 2004 cayenne turbo with air suspension and have noticed that my compressor is starting to get really load but no errors on dash yet. I was going to inspect the system and had a question regarding what fills the system. I believe it is just air but I came across posts regarding the air suspension filled with nitrogen. Is nitrogen just used in the later model cayennes.
  2. I had my indy look at it and they confirmed that it is the power steering pump that is leaking. I am thinking of taking on the replacement and know that it comes out through the drivers side wheel well but wanted to see if anyone has any advice or tips on the replacement. One issue that I think I will have is getting the upper intercooler hose off on the drivers side to get more room to the pump from the front as getting access to one of the upper intercooler pipe bolts is very difficult because of the plastic coolant line that is above it. I though I might be able to reach the bolt by taking the headlight out but it is very difficult to reach. Do I need to take the bumper off to get to it.
  3. I have a 2004 cayenne turbo and have been finding quite a bit of oil buildup on the drivers side ending up around the ac compressor and lower intercooler hose, coming from above. I cleaned the area up and do see an area that starts to look wet around what looks like a drain plug screw on the power steering pump, which is in front of the bent metal tube that the reservoir hose attaches to. I do not think it is coming from the valve cover gasket as I had those replaced about a year ago and that area looks dry. I have noted some power steering fluid loss in the reservoir but not significant. Can the power steering pump commonly leak in this area on a cayenne. My search yields complaints of leaks around the rack as being common but this is not what I am noticing.
  4. I have a 2004 cayenne turbo with air suspension and need to replace some worn front suspensions parts. I am likely going with replacing the lower control arm and tie rod with the upgraded turbo S version. I was curious on people opinions of the Powerflex polyurethane bushings and if anyone has experience on using them on a cayenne. Also I have found that eurowise sells adjustable spherical end links for the sway bar as upgrades to the oem ones and hoping to hear from anyone with experience with these. Should I just ignore this aftermarket products and stick to OEM.
  5. I have just finished up replacing my front passenger side window regulator as the cable in my original one snapped and thankfully after the window was already fully up. I replaced the regulator with a brand named Magneti Marelli AC1642 from fcpeuro which was listed as OEM brand. The window works but it now only rolls down 2/3 of the way and then stops. Is there a reprogramming of the window that needs to be done or could there be something wrong with the regulator that I installed or something else I need to do to adjust it.
  6. I am going to remove the MAF sensor to check them but would appreciate any recommendation on how to pull the MAF housing off from the plastic connecting tube that goes to the turbos without breaking the accordion section when trying to pull up on it as last time I tried to remove them, it was very difficult to separate it. Is there something I can spray around the connection to loosen it up and ease it removal.
  7. After a long time of trying to sort out my drive ability issues with my evom tune, I decided to clean both MAF with CRC mass air flow cleaner and the car ran great for a day or two then started to get sluggish again under hard acceleration. Is it possible that my MAF could be going bad but not bad enough to set off a CEL. Of note, I did not take the MAF out when I cleaned then and just sprayed the sensors while in place which I know is not the recommended way to do it.
  8. As another update, I ran a new power and ground wire to the sensor and it got the light activation portion of it working again. I will need to check the rain sensor portion but got the codes to finally clear.
  9. As an update, I have been able to narrow down the problem that there is no power going to the sensor from the Wire at the fuse box. The other wire at the fuse block is live but it is not getting to the sensor. Does anyone know where the harness for the rain sensor and mirror travels. Is it down the A pillar on the driver's side?
  10. I have a 2004 cayenne turbo and recently been having issues with my automatic lights. When I put the headlight switch to automatic, the headlights always come on, even in daylight. I ran a check on piwis and durametric and get the 1520 error for the rain/light sensor. I have cleared the error and it comes back as soon as the light switch is turned back on. I found a used rain/light sensor which I installed and still have the same problem. I also disconnected the sensor and turned the lights to the automatic setting and they come on without the sensor connected which I am not sure if that would happen anyway. I guess it is possible that the used sensor I got could also be bad. Is there a way to do a resistance check on the sensor. Are there other components in the system I should be checking as well. I did check the fuse and it is fine.
  11. For those that have had to replace their kessy module, does it just require using piwis and using the option control module replacement and read the existing module info and then writing it to the new module. Does all the information regarding my keys also get transferred over or do you also have to program the keys separately to the new module.
  12. Attached is a picture of the plug I found next to the rear convenience module behind the right trunk panel. To anyone that has the OEM tow system, does this look like the OEM harness plug that goes to the trailer hitch module.
  13. I would like to add that I removed the trunk panels to replace my rear convivence module and I found a red plug wrapped in foam in the area that would be the place for the pre hitch wiring. Even though my build sticker did not have the ID8 code, could this be the plug that goes into the tow hitch module or is it for something else. I read on one installation manual that they describe it as green. I would appreciate any who has done this installation with the pre hitch wiring, what color was the plug that you found.
  14. For anyone who is interested, I found the answer to my own question if you read link below. Earlier model cayennes had gateway built into the instrument cluster and not a separate unit unlike later models. Instrument Cluster Upgrade - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums RENNLIST.COM Cayenne 955-957 2003-2010 - Instrument Cluster Upgrade - Debating about upgrading my instrument cluster to the 2010 turbo has anyone done...
  15. I have a 2004 cayenne turbo and trying to find the location of the gateway module. I saw some workshop manuals which say it is located behind the glove box but I removed the lower black panel and looked behind the glovebox and do not see anything. Is there another place I should be looking.
