  1. The radio / cd / Navigation unit in my 2006 Carrera S is having display issues. I can't figure out a pattern. It is sporadic, happens sometimes when cold, sometimes when hot. Sometimes it is fine a startup and then goes haywire, sometimes the other way around. Is there a fix other than replacing? Is this a common issue? It always produces something. Sometimes almost solid white lines, it has even done duplicate images side by side at half of their original size.
  2. Does that mean that the rears would fit with 16mm spacers?
  3. Will the Sport Design wheels from a 2006 Carrera 2 S fit a similar year Carrera 4 S?
  4. Installed the OEM air filter housing. Made a noticable difference. Sounds just about right now. Definately can tell it is not completely stock without being obnoxious. Thanks for the advice.
  5. Purchaed an OEM airbox on ebay. I will let you know if it reduced the noise level.
  6. I bought the car more than a year ago. I asked at the time I purchased and the car was traded in with the performance parts and no OEMs included. I figured stock mufflers would take care of it and finally got around to finding a used set and installing them. That change made almost no difference, I was really suprised. I know to be extremely careful with not putting too much oil on the filter.
  7. Looking for suggestions. I have an 06 Carrera S Cabriolet that came with AWE headers, cats, and mufflers. It also has a performance air cleaner system with a conical filter in a sealed plastic housing. It sounds awesome on a track day but is too loud leaving the neighborhood @ 6:00 am. I purchased a set of factory mufflers and installed. This changed the sound very little. I want a little performance sound but it sounds like the flying lizards RSR when I get on it going under an overpass. I would rather drive fast and quiet, no need to let the police know you are coming. Is most of the noise coming from the high-flow cats? If so, could they need rebuilding or do I have to go back to OEM? Am I correct in thinking that headers should have very little to do with noise level?
  8. I already tried the dry ice trick. It helped but did not take it all out, that part of the fender has a lot of curve to it.
  9. Car is 06 Carrera S Cab. Bought with small ding in passenger rear quarter in front of rear wheel. Appears to be double walled from inside wheel area. Can this area be accessed through interior on a cab? If so, how do I remove the speaker panel area? I am hesitant to having someone drill a hole inside the fender and possibly causing rust in the future but I am ashamed of that dent constantly.
  10. Thanks for the advice. Installed O2 simulators. They are basically spacer tubes that take the O2 sensors out of the main exhaust stream. Easy install, no more check engine lights.
  11. Got back from Road America, no rubbing at all. Tires are awesome, I guess I didn't push it hard enough because I didn't hear any squeeling from the new tires. Definately would recommend the new super sports.
  12. Car is at factory ride height with Sport Chrono package. I'll give it a try next weekend and see how it goes. Paulspeed, installed the GT3 rear bar you suggested, anxious to see how it handles, will let you know.
  13. Just picked up my car after having new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires installed. It's an 06 Carrera S cab with the factory sport design wheels. I went with 305's on the rear since the back tires always looked too narrow for the rims. I had also previously installed 5 mm spacers and it still looked to narrow. The new rears look awesome, pretty much flush with the outside of the fender. Heading to Road America next week for a DE event, worried about cutting the tires. Does anyone understand the geometry of the arc when the suspension compresses? Will they tuck in? Should I remove the spacers?
  14. Since I am not the orignal purchaser of the exhaust system, AWE does not stand behind their product. Already tried to get them to fix the muffler that split the entire length of the weld. Had a local shop repair, not really a big deal. I had a friend tell me that in the muscle cars, they make and in-line adapter to the O2 sensor that fools the computer, is something like that available for the Porsche system?
  15. 2006 Carrera S purchased used with AWE headers, cats, mufflers, Evolution motorsports intake. Periodically get P0420 & P0430 error codes. Usually self clears in a week, then comes on in a few days. Car does not seam to perform any different. Where should I start?
