  1. Since im gonna be 50 this year i bought this Little 718 S as a present for myself. I included all the "important" things like SC, PDLS, PDK, PASM and some other tech stuff. To go from an 986 S to this nearly scared med first :) I dont have the Sport Exhaust and i dont miss it at all, just go to Sport mode and its noisy enough. On the downside, i miss how smooth a 6 cylinder runs, and the cabin noise is not that good to. But it dosent ruin the drive or the feel if you ask med.
  2. Boxster S from 2000 Yesterday i heard a bang when i was lowering tha passanger window. After that the window wont move by pressing the button but i hear the motor working, the same when i open/Close the door. The window it self can be moved by hand. The question is what to order? Is the regulator enough, or do i need the whole setup? http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt199_486_-cma81-cmo82/Porsche/Boxster-986-987-981/Window-Mechanism/ Is this what i need?

    window cable snapped?

Success :) But was a bit of a hassle. I had a spare membrane but the glue on that on was not as sticky as i thougt it needed to be so i ordered one more. That a good choise cause the new one was Realy sticky. The old glue i removed with a hot airgun and a knife. All the parts are Porsche parts, when i opened the box for the regulator i saw that the cable was off the green wheels. (correct name?) It was not easy to get the wire on to the wheels even if i compressed all the springs. First i tought something was wrong because it was impossible to get it over the guide that steers it on to the Wheel but with some force i managed. After a test mount i took it out again cause it made alot of terrible noise as if the Cable was off the wheels again but i looked ok. I mounted it again and moved the regulator upp and down a couple of times and the noise was gone :) Its gonna rain in a couple of days and that would be the real test to see if the membrane have a good seal. Thanks for All the help and tips and tricks!!!!

    window cable snapped?

Got my spares yesterday, so the plan is to fix the regulator this weekend. Wish me Luck!!
  5. What happens if you give some gas? Mine sounded like that when i had a vacuum leak on the intake manifold. If i gave some gas the Engine hardly revved. The first thing i would test would be to take of the oil cap. If it get worse, then that part of the vacuum is Ok, if it stays the same then you have to narrow it down. If i remember correct the oil cap thing points to the AOS

    window cable snapped?

a small update, after i did the left roter and pads i Went out for a drive to condition the new pads and rotors. For about 2 years there have been a rattle coming from the door/top area. It has been raly hard to locate and it only rattles at 2000 and 3000rpm. With the door panel of, there is no rattle anymore :)

    window cable snapped?

Right, the Cable was snapped so im gonna order the parts amegarth mention above. I do have one question! I had to work outside and its Cold i Sweden, so the membranes glue was stiff and impossible to remove. On my new membrane the glue dosent feel very sticky, does it need heat when i mount it? Thanks for All the help!!

    Drive Your Porsche 365

Im from Sweden and i drive all year :) The days when the roads have snow/salt mud i give the car a Quick Clean. I just love the feeling to drive with the top down in an white winter country :)
  11. Regarding a Boxster S from 2000 Short story, for a about a week i have heard a hissing sound from time to time while driving. And also when i turned of the car there was a sound as letting out pressure. Now i have been away for 2 weeks and when i start my Baby she sound like a V8. The whole car shakes ALOT when i give som gas but if i stay at a stable rpm for it tends to shake less. So i bought a cheap OBD2 reader today and found misfire issues on all the cylinders wich tells me that it could be that the hissing sound and this is reletated. stupid me deleted the codes and the third time i started her up she runs without the misfire but there aint the same "kick" in her. I opened the hood and found the source/leak, its the tube i Point at. My question is, what is that tube and can i fix it myself? Its the gray coupling that leaks. Thanks in advance :)
  12. My bad Jeff!! Since we both have the same problem so......... I was not aware of this thread when i started the other thread and it will not happen again :)

    Misfire/vacuum issue

i found this pic In this thread :) http://986forum.com/forums/performance-technical-chat/56336-whats-function-venturi-tube-tiptronic.html I dont an automatic as the guy who started the thread. But i found info regarding the brake boost. Does anybody know if this can be the cause for the misfire?

    Misfire/vacuum issue

Thanks RFM!! So this would realy not give me any problems as misfire and and newbie question, what does the brake booster do? The gas tank was nearly empty when i was away so to rule out condensation i filled here up after the engine started to run better.
  15. I just started a thread about the same issue! I have an vacuum leak witch i suspect caused my problem. I only had it misfired a couple of times but it was on all cylinders and the car was shaking Alot. Also when i tried to rev it hardly did so and the rattling of the car was worse, on stable rpm the shackin and rattling was less. There is a Picture on were i have a leak, as of no its Ok but if so muck as look at the tube it starts to hiss.
  16. My 00 S @ 130487mi starts to have some issuses, nothing big i hope! The ticking sound comes from the driver side footwell, and from what i have been able to find it could be a solanoid to the climate control? If i change the temp or the vents it stays the same, intermittent clicking. I have also read somehwere that it could be a vacumline to ventilation damper? The next issue, Its from the rear passanger side. It started with a faint squeaky sound going over bumps or pressing the rear down by hand. But now i can hear that something is wrong when driving in lower (1-2 gear) speeds and it doesent have to be a bumby road for me to hear it. Its like a faint rumble and the aqueaky sound have gotten worse. If i go under the car and have someone pressing the rear down i can fell that the squeaky sounds makes vibration in part nr 8 in the pic below. All the nuts feel tight and from what i can tell nothing is loose. The rumbeling sound disapears if i give small amount of gas or if i go upphill in lower speeds, if i let go from the gas it starts. I hope someone can help me with this, and im from Sweden so my spelling aint the best, Sry!
  17. Thanks JFP I have been looking at that pic Before but nothing looks like the right one. 10 or 11 is my best bet. does it help if get some better pics? And thanks for the help! *edit* I hope its ok to link to other Porshe pages, this is on a 996 http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Porsche-996-997-Carrera/103-ELEC-HVAC_Motor/103-ELEC-HVAC_Motor.htm Pic nr 5 there you see the actuator with nr 99657392100 that sometimes is called green. And 99657391900 that i think is the Purple one. *edit* Got it!! The thing was to do a search on 99657391900 instead of 996-573-91-00 :)
  18. To be honest, im not sure how the heater box looks like  But i found this pic :) On the upper left you can see the purple/pink thing. To get there this foam part has to be removed Sry for my bad explanation
  19. No luck :( But here you have a pic a at least. Its the black thing thats has the purple thing on it that makes the noise. Its located on the left in the passenger fototwell.
  20. A small update, the rumbling sound (poor choice of word) is not from arm nr 8, its from the arm nr 9. Just by seeing how its connected i know that im not gonna change that by myself ;) The site where the bluprints from are pretty known in Sweden, and they have discontinued just that part. The sound i hear when i drive slowely is more like a klonking sound (is that an English word?) And i hope its because of that part part that needs to be changed. i have tried to find the part that needs to be changed down at the footwell but havent had any luck yet. I cant even find it on the blueprint....
  21. Thats Ok, its the Brake pad light. After some investigation on the net it sound as i just cant remove the connector (not sure) its better to take of the sensor completely. But om gonna try with the circuit breakers and try the 30sec :) I realy would to find out witch one it is thats getting tripped. An OBD tool would be great to have now (stupid me)
