    Loren: Seem to be getting to the bottom of it. The pads that came with the car are the new style. The cross references of some of the aftermarket pad resellers do not seem to have recognized this new style yet. They want to supply the older style that will physically fit in but would require a different retaining clip. I'm just trying to find regular quiet street pads (I have Pagid Yellows for track and these are correct style) May just have to get the Porsche pads from the dealer. Can't find a less expensive Mintex or Textar cross yet. Thanks for the help. Dan

    Loren: Thanks I think that the part# on the original pad is 997.351.930.05 The BOLD numbers I have high confidence in reading. The rest were totally or partially worn down by the brake piston contact (but maybe 997.351.939.05.) The 997 is completely missing. Tried 996 986 987 prefix but got no where. Textar calls it T4045 FF Thanks Dan It would be easier if you gave me the part number on your new pads.

    11K Miles. HOWEVER I put 9 or 10 DE track days on the original pads. The last event that I ran, I bought some Pagid Yellow pads which were really great. Can't complain except in trying to figure out exactly what I have. The original pad has a Textar T4045 FF number which their site says is a 997 part. Maybe 997.351.930.05 Can't seem to find much more about it. Strange.

    Thanks Loren. Can you tell if my "old" original pad is the "new" style? Or is it the style that was replaced? I did call my dealer and the service and parts guys did not have a clue what I was talking about. Dan

    I have what is becoming a quite mysterious problem in replacing my front brake pads on a very early 2007 987S. (Sept 06 build) Attached is a jpg showing the original front brake pad that came with the car and a photo of new pad sets. As can be seen, the top of the pad backing plate is different. The retaining spring clip that came with the car is 2.5" long and works just fine on the old pads. It will not work on the new style pad. The new style pad requires a 3.5" long spring clip in order clear the new raised portions of the pad backing plate. All other 987S that I've seen use the new style pad and clips. I can't find any reference to the style of pads or short clips that were built with the car originally. Any ideas what I might have and does anyone know the correct part# for the 3.5" long retaining clip? Thanks Dan

    As cooler weather is coming I remember the frustration in cool weather top down driving. I drive it all of the time on nice days down to about 40 degrees with the top down. Unlike my 2000S where I could get the heating to work driving or at a stop, I find that I can't do that with my 2007 987S (with auto climate). If I set the heat so that it's comfortable driving, I bake at a stop. If I set it for comfort at a stop, I freeze when driving. I asked a Porsche exec about this because it would be so easy for them to do. He agreed however........ I'd like to do something like speed dependent volume control with the blower. Knowing the speed and having access to the blower switch, its contacts or the wires, I can build the micro controller and parallel switch to step the blower up and down with the speed. I need some assistance with the following. 1. On the 2000 986 there is a pin on the relay for the top (pin 18 I think) that is a signal pin that is related to speed. It was used for a volume control hack some years back. Does a similar thing exist on the 987? 2. Does anyone have and would share the small part of the electrical schematic that involves the blower switch? 3. Can the blower switch easily be removed for examination, or can the trim be easily removed for examination ? Thanks in advance. Dan

    My first Boxster 00S came with Contis and while they rode well, they were gone in ~10K miles. I requested Michelins from the dealer when I placed the order. Dealer told me they have no control or a way to spec the tires. You get what you get. My new 07S fortunately came with 18" Michelins. The other 07 987S that I have seen all have Michelins. Don't know what the base comes with.

    I too, have a new 07 987S and am going through wheel size issues. Plan on getting Michelin Sport Cups 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 and plan on getting a second set of track wheels. 987S 18" stock wheels are 18x8 57mm offset (Front) and 18x9 43mm offset (Rear) I have found a set of wheels that will work with the tires but I do not know how to figure out if the different width/offsets will work or not with the car. The new wheels are 18X8.5 front 46 mm offset and 18x10 rear 40 mm offset Can someone tell me if these will work as is, won't ever work or will work with spacers? Are there driving issues with increased width? Thanks so much.

    Very hot day, long country drive. CEL came on. Autozone was nice enough to read out the codes for me. P1125 Oxygen sensing adaptation, upper load range, bank 1 P1132 Oxygen sensing adaptation, upper load range, bank 2 Anyone with some possible explanations of causes and fixes? Thanks Dan
