  1. Sadly it was quite evident..... the usual Cayenne plastic coolant pipes have failed on my 145,000km car A raft of new parts will be ordered from the USA and shipped here as it's much cheaper that way. Thanks to all for the advice.
  2. I don't believe that my pipes have already been changed, sadly I don't know how to confirm this for sure.... The leaking reservior is possible, I recently had to replace the filler neck for the washer fluid bottle as it had partially melted on the seams.
  3. For the past 6 months or so my 2005 CTT with around 90k miles has been using coolant to the tune of around 2 litres every 500 miles (that is from the max mark to the warning symbol appearing) i'm assuming that this is not normal, but there's no obvious leaks, no puddle on the garage floor, no mayonnaise in the oil etc etc Where else should I be looking / what else could be the fix for this problem?
  4. i have the same "looseness" as well.... almost like you can move the whole mirror housing in directions it's not supposed to bre able to go. Cleaning the switch will not fix that. I believe (in my case) what happened is that the mirrors were not folded in for a decade, allowing loads of sand to build up inside the mechanism, when I tried to fold them, something (plastic teeth maybe) snapped, allowing the thing to fail. As I noted previously, I'm going to just replace the whole unit and see what happens.
  5. I have exactly the same problem... I did a lot of research last year and the only solution I could find was to buy a new mirror base 955 731 221 00 (be careful with that code there are a couple of dozen different varieties and I don't know the Porsche parts system well enough to know which one is correct) This base was close on $250 if I remember correctly so I decided to wait until one came up at a breakers!
  6. Just by way of an update, I sourced a used part from a breakers in the UK and hand carried it back into Dubai last week A friend and I then got down and dirty last weekend and changed the parts over. With the exception of some very tightly located electrical conenctions and a slightly fiddly bolt it was an easy DIY 500km later, no warning lights and no recoding of any kind required. A success, thanks all on this forum for the advice and assistance.
  7. Similar to mine I think... I finally got bored last weekend and took the front of the car apart with the intent of fixing the issue... after swapping various parts around to try and replicate the fault I ended up figuring out that it was the headlight carrier on the offside. This headlight carrier has two clips to hold in place the short harness you mentioned, one of those clips was broken. With nothing to lose I took a dremel to the carrier and modified it so that the harness now plugs straight in the back of the headlight.... 500km later and not a headlight warning in sight. (as an aside, the dipped lights no longer flicker either!)
  8. I'm clutching at straws here wondering if anyone has experienced this issue before, or knows the Cayenne electrical system well enough to attempt a diagnosis. Here's the details (my truck's a LHD 2005 Turbo with Xenons, cornering lights etc) If both headlights are connected then when the lights come on, the passenger side works perfectly, the drivers side dipped light illuminates, attempts to self level and then goes out, generating a warning symbol on the dash. The sidelight stays on, indicators work fine etc If i then tap that headlight the dipped beam unit will come back on and stay on for as long as the car is running. If I disconnect the passenger side light completely then the driver's side works perfectly every time. The moment I reconnect the passenger side, the drivers side starts playing up again. What on earth could be the cause of this?
  9. Brilliant thanks all. I show a part code change at some point from part #955 624 601 00 to part #955 624 601 01 i'm assuming the newer code is the part to use. Mine's a 2005 / 2006 car so I think I'll try just replcing the servo motor initially and see how I go from there.
  10. For the last week or so my truck has been giving me the 4wd error message and the 4 wheel symbol in the cluster. I took it to the shop and they've diagno 624 60101sed the transfer box servo motor (part #955 624 601 01) is faulty and needs replacing. This appears to be a rather expensive part but it looks like an easy DIY replacement. My question is, does the car need to be reprogrammed or anything after this replacement is done?
  11. I too have the same issue, my drivers mirror on my 04 Turbo works in every direction but doesn't fold...... I have taken it apart this morning and it is a completely seperate motor that controls the folding action. this motor appears to be contained within the base of the mirror casing and the interior door card must be removed in order to access it.... I'm off to do that now!
  12. My 2005 CTT doesn't have homelink either. From reading above, am I right that I can just buy a used roof console from that famous auction site, install it and away I go - I'm asuming from this that the relevant wiring harness is already present, just not currently connected to anything in my car?
  13. I ended up walking away from the first car I was looking at and I've now bought another car. 2005 CTT Gunmetal grey with black ruffled leather 134k KM most history present, though no record of the coolant tubes being done. It's had a fair amount of work done at ARM (assuming that's Alex Renner?) already so I think I might have them inspect it fully at the same time as the next service. Thanks for the advice all.
  14. Thanks for the info I must confess I normally do stick to local cars (my Corvette is a GCC model) but the price on this CTT is attractive enough that I have some financial room for remedial works, hence the question.
  15. A simple question here but one that I can't find the answer to despite many google searches. I'm looking at buying an '04 Cayenne Turbo here in Dubai (it's acutally a US car though) The seller only has one key (a flip out blade) I'm assuming there should be more than this... how difficult is it to code a new key? can I buy a blank on ebay, have the blade cut and then code it to the car myself or is it a dealer only job... Should I have some kind of master key as well? Lastly, how do I tell if the car has PSM / what other features should I be looking for on an '04?
