  1. I am puzzled as to why Renovo didn't cover the marks. This Boxter was treated with Canvas Cleaner, Reviver (dye) and finished off with Ultra Proofer (sealer). The rear window was also cleaned with Plastic Polish.
  2. I don't know anything about Flitz but if it is a "metal polish" why would you use it on plastic rather than a water-based, specialist plastic polish like Renovo's? You don't know what's in Flitz so why risk damage that you may not see for some time? As a general rule, plastic windows should not be cleaned with domestic cleaning products that are intend for use on glass or other hard surfaces. The same rule applies to plastic film window tint - my tint warranty (fine print) actually specifies cleaning with warm water only!
  3. I am pleased you got a good result with the Reviver kit. However, only allowing an hour for drying is a bit risky. I always allow several hours, even overnight, as the top needs to be thoroughly dry for best results.
  4. Hi saab. Firstly, I do not work for Renovo. I am the independent Australian distributor of Renovo products. As I said in my earlier post, the (chrisbw) photos appear to show a "tide mark" caused by the Reviver (dye) not being overlapped when it was applied or, perhaps, the Reviver was applied outside in the sun which can result in areas drying out before being blended into each other. Another possibility is that the Reviver was not stirred (must not be shaken) properly before it was applied which could result in uneven saturation of the dye - similar to not stirring a can of paint before use. Provided that the top is thoroughly cleaner with Renovo Canvas Cleaner, one application of Reviver should be enough to treat a Boxter top. I have a Saab 9-3 and use a bit over 500ml of Reviver for one coat which is all I have ever needed. However, no two tops are the same and it may be necessary to apply more than one coat for best results. I advise my customers to clean the top and allow to dry completely (overnight if necessary), then apply one coat of Reviver (out of direct sun light) and again allow to dry completely. If not satisfied with the colour apply a second coat of Reviver and allow to dry. Only when completely satisfied with the colour, apply Ultra Proofer. Needless to say don't allow a top to get wet before sealing with Ultra Proofer. If drying time is a problem (cold weather) you can also take the car for a drive and let the wind speed up the process. Hope this helps.
  5. Product is Renovo Canvas Reviver which comes in black, dark blue and other common soft top colours. You can buy online in the US/Canada from the distributor http://toprenew.com or a number of other online sellers. Watch out for some who have INFLATED shipping costs. Reviver must be used with Renovo Canvas Cleaner (first) then resealed with Renovo Ultra Proofer (last).
  6. Although this thread is a bit old, I am new to the forum. As the Renovo distributor for Australia I'm always interested in any problems customers have with Renovo products regardless of who or where they bought them from. chrisbw's original post suggests a couple of things to me. Firstly, he does not mention cleaning the top with Renovo Canvas Cleaner before he applied Reviver. Instruction 1 on the Reviver bottle says "Ensure that the soft top is dry and free from grease, dirt and previous water proofing coatings by thoroughly cleaning with Renovo Soft Top Canvas Cleaner before commencing application." Failure to do this can result in patchy or uneven results when Reviver or Ultra Proofer are applied later. The photos also show a "tide mark" effect. This can occur when Reviver is applied in direct sunlight which results in sections drying out before over-lapped into the next section, or the sections have not been over-lapped properly leaving bits untreated. These photos were sent by a customer and show what can be achieved (he was very happy): Even though Renovo can give very good results, it is not a "magic bullet" for every soft top problem and I would not pretend it will work every time. Problems can, and do, arise when tops have been "treated" with home-remedy concoctions like anything containing silicone (e.g. wash n' wax car shampoo) and, I kid you not, boot polish and linseed oil.
