  1. Hi I don't know if you ever sorted this issue or not - but i had an 03 986 which was displaying similar problems. No response from the durametric. I have found it isn't too reliable at coding the 03/04 vehicles (my opinion!!) And using PIWIS the cluster would not code either - it just told me to run the full module search despite having already done this. In the end I solved it by using PIWIS by using the 996 menus, where strangely the cluster was then recognised. I was then able to code it and everything returned to normal. I put it down to having been coded incorrectly from installation or having some rogue coding put into it at some point. Thanks
  2. It's definitely the cluster which doesn't take the coding. I'm using piwis 1 v34. the menu option for cruise control simply doesn't exist in the cluster coding section where it should be. This is the same if I use durametric. i had read of cars having problems if the model type wasn't set correctly in DME. But this doesn't make any difference if a different model type is entered - I thought I would give the forums a go for ideas as it's an expensive gamble to swap out the cluster to see if this resolves the issue. thanks
  3. Hi yes it is he pasted the question into pc gb as my membership has expired. if you have a chance would you be able to paste the response into here as I suspect it will come my way eventually anyway. i was hoping it might reach you ! thanks
  4. It was originally set to 611 which corresponds to its spec. I've tried changing the type to both 410 and 411 to see if that makes a difference but it doesn't.
  5. Hi yes your quite right it does and the DME has been coded as such however the cluster does not show the option as it should. I have tried changing the order code to no avail. Thanks
  6. Hi - just wondered if anyone out there may have a bit of specialist knowledge around instrument clusters. I have a colleague with a 2001 996 C4 who had cruise retrofitted, by a specialist. However the specialist, and the local OPC were unable to fully activate the function - which is where I got involved. I have both PIWIS and Durametric (pro) so ordinarily this would be a straightforward job to activate it using one or other of the systems. On performing the module search with PIWIS everything seemed OK however on going into the instrument cluster module there is no option to activate the cruise control, although the DME does have it as per usual, and activated correctly. I got the same problem using Duarametric. Aware that sometimes a change of order code is necessary I tried changing it from 611 to both 410 and 411 (similar builds) however this did not make any difference and the cruise function is still not visible. I have also added 454 (cruise control) to the vehicle order to see if this would work but again no change. The instrument cluster fitted to this is part number 996.641.118.03 which according to PET is the correct part for this model. Everything else on the vehicle works OK, but obviously no green 'cruise control' light on start up, and no functioning cruise control. We could acquire another cluster but this obviously cannot guarantee sorting the problem. I have to say I'm a bit stumped by this one so thought I might see if anyone else had had a similar problem or be able to throw some ideas in. I've not come across this before and have probably activated about 50 different cruise controls to date so any ideas would be well appreciated. and before you ask no I'm not using dodgy oriental clone equipment so that can be ruled out Thanks
  7. OK thanks i don't mind replacing the cluster - but I dont want to run into the same problem with cluster thinking it should have air suspension when it hasn't. Is this an automatic recognition of functionality by the cluster as PIWIS does not have a coding function for air suspension within the cluster module (although it does within other modules). thanks
  8. Does anyone have knowledge of whether there are different types of instrument clusters or do they just need to be programmed to a specific vehicle. After a recent cluster used replacement on a steel spring model, it shows an error on the air suspension which this model does not have. Is it a coding issue or has the wrong cluster type been fitted. I am struggling to find any specific information on this issue. Having connected the car to both PIWIS and Durametric it seems that the cluster cannot be set to 'non air suspension' although there are number of other modules can be, and appear to be set correctly. Any ideas ?? Thanks
