  1. For UK owners... Just bought the repair kit from my local VW dealer. 7L0 698 030 (my vehicle is an '04 TT) Cost was £62. Just fitted it - it took approx 40-50 mins in total. So far, so good...keeping my fingers crossed as the warning has not yet reappeared. Didn't torque up, but you have to be careful to tighten the new bolts sufficiently, as they appear to resist before being fully tightened, so keep going until they finally lock up.
  2. Have had the battery tested (its a Varta too so not the original battery so it has been replaced since new but not sure how long ago). It recorded 11.99v and start capacity was 92%. So does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong with my mirrors?
  3. Ok, so something else has now happended: I can't adjust either mirror...twiddling the knob, nothing... But, both are still heated, both still fold in using the knob, and both still auto adjust with the custom settings (seat/mirror positions 1,2 & 3). What the heck is going on?? Anyone still reckon this could be the battery??
  4. Thanks wvicary - I did wonder about the battery having read of the issues there have had with the mirrors. Thanks bigbuzuki - I tend to lean toward this as the most probable scenario, but think I might start with a new battery, after all, it is still the original from what I can tell (8 years!) so must be due to be replaced by now.
  5. Have programmed seat and mirrors for both my wife and myself; memory setting 1 for her, memory setting 2 for me. Everything worked perfectly each time either setting was recalled, for many, many months (we've had the Cayenne for nearly 2 years). Now, occasionally, on engaging reverse gear the door mirrors are adjusting themselves UPWARD, which because I have set the passenger mirror to drop to view the curb in reverse, means the driver's mirror is skyward, while the passenger mirror is set normal (it should be pointing toward the curb). I've reprogrammed both settings numerous times, which seems to cause it to behave for a while, but then it reverts to its bad behaviour. Problem is, it's intermittent, and I can't provoke it to happen, so the above sequence of events is from memory, and it could be slightly different, but it's definitely linked to engaging reverse gear, as I said, the driver's mirror ends up too high, which means I have to adjust both mirrors down, and then adjust the passenger mirror again independently...and then reprogramme and save the setting. Any ideas or comments welcomed!
  6. Hi, when engaging reverse, the parking guide shows red and does not detect any obstacles... Sounds to me as though one of the sensors has failed. How do I check this? Is it simply a case of buying a new sensor and swapping them out one at a time? Any advice on where to buy a replacement sensor from, in the UK...Porsche OPC as good as anywhere?? Thanks, Neil.
  7. I need to remove my ash tray...pops out on one side ok (side where the lighter sits) but not so easy the other. What do I need to do? Have searched the forum and no-one's revealed how this is done...so I'm assuming it's not as straight forward as it might first appear... Thanks, Neil.
  8. Hi, have recently acuired a 2004 Turbo. Have found the petrol flap open TWICE in the past 48 hours...and I defintely HAVE NOT pressed the button... Has anyone experienced this, or have any suggestions why this is occurring? Shuts again firmly and cannot be opened manually (i.e. have checked it's not a flimsy latch) Can it be activated in some way from the key fob (I'm thinking whether I've been playing with the key and caused it to open...) Thanks! Neil.
  9. Hey Panda, would be interested if you get any answers to "what can I use to get the white stains out of the brushed metal sides by the door"... It appears to afflict a lot of the older cars... Perhaps a new thread may get people's attention...? Regards, Neil.
  10. Hi, Has anyone managed to use the overhead controls (next to the sunroof controls) to programme it for use as an r/c for their garage door, in particular, the Chamberlain? Have followed the manual and it hasn't worked, althought the LED flashed as suggested in the manual. Might be that my opener doesn't have a fixed code so I may need to follow the next section in the booklet but thought I'd quickly ask the question on the forum... Thanks! Neil.
  11. Hello, have recently added to my existing Cab 4 996 (hence my user name!) with an '04 Turbo in Grey... Couple of questions which will either reveal me as being a Cayenne NEWBIE or disappointingly to a fault! Sat Nav - when ACTIVE (i.e. I'm en route to a destination) when I toggle to MAP view it sometimes shows me a map of where I really am, or, a map of London!! When Sat Nav is INACTIVE all I seem to get is a map of London...even though I'M NOT IN LONDON. I know this isn't the case in my 996 as MAP view always shows me where I really am. &, how do I find out what version of PCM I have? ALso, there appear to x6 Sat Nav CDs in the vehicle...I'd assumed there'd be just ONE as in my 996. What do I do with these, apart from "keep them safe"? Will loading them all in one by one perhaps resolve my aforemetioned problem?? FInally, disc #3 is missing!!!! Could any kind soul burn me a copy, please?? Or tell me where I might get one from, other than my OPC! They're dated 08/2005... Will supply address details to anyone willing to help. Thanks! Neil.
  12. Just keeping pulling - it is stiff but will eventually come off. The lugs are quite sturdy so i'd be very surpised if you managed to break them. I discovered this very recently as I really struggled to remove the bezel, but it did eventually come off. Neil.
  13. When I raise my spoiler it lifts silently. When I lower it, it makes a noise - sounds like gears over-running/out of sync. Only happens as the spoiler starts to lower, then it quietens. Any ideas??
  14. Scouser, excellent article - helped me enormously, once I managed to prize the switch surround away from the dash. Eventually found a nice little tool for doing this (used to use it for opening up CRTs in a previous existence!). However, all my switch connections were reversed. The switch I bought was 996.613.156.00.A02, and I double checked & rechecked your instructions before starting. Anyhow, once I reversed them, everything worked (switch illuminated, and spoiler went up/down corresponding to the image on the switch where prior to this it was working but the wrong way round!). Thanks again.
