  1. Hi jgiles25, Are they tutorials for this specific dashkit though? This isn't the factory HU, this is an aftermarket HU with brackets holding it in place. I've done more research since posting the topic and I believe the dashkit I have is the EuroMotorSport one seen here on Suncoast: http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/EMSRA.html?Category_Code=987_interiorPCM I have tried removing it via pressing in and out on the four clips shown in my pictures but I have not had any luck. I have also tried looking for screws on the side of the brackets but there don't appear to be any. It seems that the brackets allow the double din HU to slide in and lock into place via the clips but I can't seem to reverse this process to remove the HU from the brackets. My goal here is to plug in an iPhone charging cable to the back of the HU. Edit: Found the solution thanks to a user at Planet-9. I was pulling on the wrong clips. The protruding four clips with lips them are only to latch the faceplate around the radio, not to keep the radio in the dash. The clips you want are marked #2 in this image: End result:
  2. Hello all, I bought my first Porsche 2 months ago - a 2006 Porsche Boxster S with 40k miles on it. The previous owner had a custom headunit installed professionally - he had them put in a Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS and they routed an iPhone 30pin connector to the center armrest console. Obviously this connector is out of date now and I would like to replace it with a Thunderbolt cable and do some other work. The problem I am having is that I did not receive the instruction manual for the double-din dash kit and cannot figure out how to remove the dash kit brackets to get to the back of the headunit. I don't know what brand the dashkit is but I have seen it in a few screenshots from other people on the forum so it must be fairly common. Here are some screenshots of what I am looking at: Front Overview: http://www.renntech.org/forums/uploads/downloadedimages/q3vh9dd.jpg Lower Right Corner: http://www.renntech.org/forums/uploads/downloadedimages/pvxwevj.jpg Top Right Corner: http://www.renntech.org/forums/uploads/downloadedimages/4sdyb4f.jpg Left Front: http://www.renntech.org/forums/uploads/downloadedimages/usj8hfg.jpg Left Side: http://www.renntech.org/forums/uploads/downloadedimages/e0rtauf.jpg Close-up of the brackets the headunit is mounted to in order to fit the original PCM-sized slot: http://www.renntech.org/forums/uploads/downloadedimages/ocryhw8.jpg I spent about an hour and a half trying to pull and pry the unit out. Pure force was not yielding any progress, so there must be some screws or clips. I can't see any visible screws on the sides that would be holding the headunit in the bracket, and the only clips I see are the four metal clips on the front of the brackets. I've tried pulling outward and inward on them with no results. Does anyone have any experience with these brackets? How do I remove the headunit? I just need to slide it out so that I can plug in some additional cables to the back ports of the radio. Thank you.
