  1. I bought my 2007 C4S 997 as a CPO almost two years ago (at 16,100 miles) . The time for 'scheduled maintenance needed' is ticking down and I've determined from the dealer that it has had two 'minor' maintenances but never a 'major' maintenance done. I changed the oil 6 months ago and checked the brakes which are fine. Car now has 24,500 miles on it. How necessary is it to bring my car into the dealer for the 'major' maintenance? Can I just have my local indy shop do some of them? Researching the scheduled maintenance book and online, it seems that what I need for major maintenance is: changing brake fluid replacing air filter replacing particle filter cleaning out radiator ducts changing spark plugs The indy dealer said the spark plug replacement is not necessary at 24,500 miles. Is this true? What about drive belt or anything else? Unfortunately, my nearest dealer is over an hour away and they did not do a very good job with some minor warranty work that was needed. I've heard they will charge about $1500 for the major maintenance but my local guy will be a lot cheaper. On the other hand, I don't want to damage my car if the above items seem a little to much for a local, non-Porsche maintenance guy to do... Any thoughts? general maintenance intervals.pdf
  2. Hi Porsche people I changed the spark plugs of my 955 CTT yesterday and I think the plug on cylinder 6 is not as the others. For me it does not show a realy scary image, and I'm sure it is not urgent but can you see something more?
  3. Hi folks, I live in Boca Raton, I have a 2005 997 - 911 with 93k miles. I'm not a rich man. I'm looking for recommendations for service and repair in the south Florida area ideally someone who would like to work on a gentle restoration or a recommendation for a reasonable shop that will do good work for a reasonable price i.e. not dealer rates. I need a replacement alternator i think as the bearings have just gone (sounds like that anyway) and all the belts should be due by now. Anyone with experience in maintaining this vehicle who wants to earn a little extra please contact me or if anyone has a show they would personally recommend I'd be very grateful. Mark.
  4. Hi all, I'm new to the board and have been methodically going through hundreds of pages of your posts every day. I'm located in NY state on the Canadian border and the closest foreign repair facility is Autotec Mechanical in Long Sault Ontario, just across the border. I want to have my IMS looked at and have a service done as well. Do you guys have any experience with them? thanks in advance for your advice. http://autotecmechanical.ca/ 2001 996 C2 85k miles
  5. Hello everyone, Just joining the forum here! I Just purchased and '05 Cayenne S with the coolant pipe issue fixed, and fresh service. I also gutted the stereo to get rid of the CD23 Bose stereo and subsequent fiber-optic connections. I now have two kicker amps powering the factory speakers, an alpine sub in the stock enclosure, and AppRadio! Awesome setup and couldn't be more pleased. I replaced the tires with 265/60/18 BFG KO2 All-terrains, and this thing kills it off-road (Southern Oregon). If anyone has any upkeep advice to offer, or common issues that I should know of, please let me know. Pictures are coming shortly. (Also: the stock Bose CD-changer, amp, and stereo face-plate are for sale!)
  6. Hi Anybody have the Cayenne 2004 workshop/repair/service manual in PDF-format? Possible to "borrow" it? That would be very happy  Please PM if you don't want to reply in this thread. There are a lot of places on the internet to buy the manual, but don't know the quality of these. Have read people have had mixed experiences with these. The "original" should have at least 9700 pages. Best regards, Kjetil, Norway
  7. I am in the process of having the 40,000 mile service done on my 2012 Cayenne. Upon shopping around, it seems that, unlike the existence of documentation in Europe stating a range of service costs, there is nothing similar for the US. Does anyone have information/experience on the costs of this major service?
