  1. 1999 Carrera4. 5 years I have chased this intermittent problem. Sometimes the car refuses to start. Starter will not turn over. All maintainance has been done at a dealer service center. They say they've never seen this issue before. It's not DME they say. Every component from entire key system to the starter, as part of the security system/start permission, has been replaced. Car can go for months with no issue, start every time, then it's like a gremlin grabs it and it will not start. No error code(s) reported. Everything appears normal and proper with dash lights. Might be a minute, an hour, a day, a week... and it starts. You never know if it will start or not. Possible weak point in the wiring? Software issue? I'm flying blind on this. Has anyone experienced anything like this?
  2. Car: 1999 C2 6spd, 158,000miles Okay guys, need some thoughts: Car runs terribly anyway, but I have been noticing more and more what I describe as "backlash" , or a kind of shudder from the driveline when going from coasting to on the gas and vice versa. It is very violent and obvious. feels the same on cruise control as well. I am leaning towards engine mounts? Idle is extremely rough as well which adds up in my book.
  3. I own a 1999 carrera I opened up the top everything went fine. When I got home my hand brake would not engaged so I performed the "emergency operation" for the top as stated on the manual and got the top to close. Found out later a piece of paper got stuck between the hand brake and the switch which prevented it from engaging. So after getting the hand brake to engage again I tried to open the top it is just stuck. You can hear a clicking noise, indicator light would be solid then blink. Do I need to reset the anything or reverse the operation for it to work??? Mind you it did work before that whole hand brake paper situation. Thanks! ~Ram~
  4. I'm considering a Boxster project, and wondering if a 2.7L (2000) engine will fit in a 1999 Boxster body/frame. If so, any significant mods required? Thanks for the assist!
  5. Hey guys, Got my Durametric in hand finally. Plugged in to my 99 C2 to diagnose my airbag light. All I get is "code 0" module failed to initialize. Am I missing some step to accessing the airbag unit? Can durametric not help me on my 99? Off to read some help files/the manual :) thoughts? thanks!
  6. Hey guys, looking for some insights. I am aware of a number of different reputable OBD scanners on the market that will give me streaming values for less than half the price of Durametric. Since I have a very early year car what are the capabilities of the durametric scanner vs others? According to their website the first year Motronic has lesser capabilities? I will be buying a scanner with streaming capabilities but want to know if the porsche specific development is worth the money? All i need is diagnostic capabilities. cheers!
