  1. Hello, I have 2004 cayenne s that I’ve been tracing down leaks in. I noticed that on the air intake tube near the air filter, there is a round metal clip that attaches two separate tubes together. Not the hose clamp style, but a spring clip that just pops on. I can’t find any info on buying these anywhere. Does anyone know the part number for these? Thanks.
  2. I have a 2004 Cayenne S. I just got it recently, interior lights have never worked. I checked the fuse and it was blown. It calls for a 20 amp fuse but the blown one in it was a 25 amp. I had the key in the ignition if I remember correctly and put the new 20 amp fuse in and everything came on. Side note, I noticed a weird glitch with the light above the rear passenger side door and the switch on the main map reading light. The interior lights had gone off and I turned the back on and the backlight above to passenger side door was very dim. I slid the switch on the overhead console for the main map light and the rear light came back to full strength. I found that odd. Everything then worked fine. I took the key out. Next time I put the key in, immediately heard the fuse blow. Any ideas on where to start?
  3. Hello, Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. This is my first post and I will try to be as specific as I can. SORRY if it seems long. I have a base model cayenne 2004 with 89,000 miles. I have always been good about the upkeep... Just changed oil, oil and air filter 2 days ago. For a few months now I have been getting the 4WD system faulty and the PSM failure workshop codes. The codes usually do not come up right away upon starting the car. They pretty much always come up in the middle of a drive at various speeds. I could be on the highway or at city speeds. The codes ALWAYS come up together, which makes me think they could be related? 4WD first and then PSM immediately after. (The 4WD definitely works however. I just moved from Minnesota and drove through the mountains in Denver with the car. I had no issues with the car losing traction. It honestly plowed through the ice and snow like a boss!) The small icon on the dash will also stay lit (a triangle with exclamation point in middle with circle arrow around it.) Next time I go to start the car it is gone. I have not noticed any problems with the car while driving. To me it seems perfectly fine and drives the same the first day I bought it. I looked at the previous forums on this problem but I never saw an actual solution? The guy just gave up and sold it. Other users mentioned it could be the battery. I just had my battery checked and was told it is still good. My FM transmitter also checks the voltage every time I plug it in (basically every time I drive) and always says the voltage is normal. I took it to a mechanic and he said it would have to be diagnosed by the Porsche dealership. He told me this because he said he does not want to waste my time and suspect the wrong part to replace if that is not really the issue. He said it is really hard to diagnose these cars without the bench only the dealership has. He did give me the exact codes which I can list later once I grab the paper from the glovebox. So basically, he got the codes for me and gave me some more transmission fluid which he said was a little low. He cleared the codes for me and charged me $75 dollars. Seems stupid considering I still have the issue and now have to go to the dealership next Friday to get proper diagnosis. But, at least he did not charge me original diagnosis for $145... Anyways, the codes are still coming up after the guy cleared them. Let me know if you have any input on the situation or if you could link a similar forum where the user listed the solution that would be fine as well. SIDE NOTE: I am also receiving the message system key faulty. My mechanic in Minnesota said that was simply due to the weight of the key in the ignition moving around. He said it was no big deal and does not affect the car mechanically. The previous owner bought 2 new key fobs about 1 year ago. This happens with both keys. I have one with a lanyard and keychain on it that I use regularly and the other is just the fob itself. Can anyone confirm that this is true? I know it seems small but it is kind of annoying to hear it pop up often. I'm sure the dealership will give me the info I need and I can update this post after the diagnosis Friday. If any of you smart Porsche pals can point me in the right direction before the appointment I can at least prepare myself for what I'm getting into lol.
  4. Hey Everyone, So I own a 2004 Cayenne Turbo 2004. I don't drive the it much but today when I went to turn the car on the speedometer didn't power-up. So I turn the car off and restarted and still nothing. Everything else works fine expect for the windshield wipers and speedometer. I'm thinking it's a fuse but I'm not sure. Has anyone else had these issues. Video and pictures coming soon! And tomorrow morning I'm testing the fuses to see if maybe it's loose or blown.
  5. Greetings, Short Version: Clock keeps resetting itself to 1:11 PM. It will progress in time for as many as 17 minutes, before resetting. Any thoughts on what causes this clock behavior? Full Detail: Our 2004 Cayenne S had varying electrical "ghosts" since we bought it, used, in April 2014. I finally tracked it down to the ground points MB22 and MB23 both having loose nuts. The grounds for all attached electrical components was intermittent, especially in high humidity conditions. For the record, the primary symptom that led to diagnosing the loose ground was the cabin air conditioning/heating system completely losing power. Using the diagram: Wiring Diagram - 25 - Ground points left-hand drive - 9PAAE1 - 2004 - 4, I was able to isolate the ground points. That was resolved in December 2014. Ever since then, the clock keeps resetting to 1:11 PM (or 13:11). All three clocks -- on the radio, near the speedometer, and on the AC/Heat control unit -- display the same behavior. Sometimes one clock will reset just before the others, but only moments before. The clocks are obviously synchronized somewhere. As part of troubleshooting this issue, I replaced the battery under the driver's seat around October 2015. The car contained the original factory battery, prior to that replacement. Any thoughts? Can anyone explain, or point me to the documentation on, how the clock system works? For example, what ultimately controls the "current time" how are all three clocks interlinked? - PJ
  6. Why is the radio reception so bad in this vehicle? Is there a way to fix this? Can I replace the antennae or add a booster to it? On any other vehicle I've driven I can get something other than static on just about every station on the dial, on my overpriced VW I get a handful.
  7. I did an oil change on my 2004 996 Carrera using the correct amount of Porsche specified oil about 1,500 miles ago. Now after running and car and letting the oil settle back to the oil pan the dash computer level and dipstick are reading the same. The oil level is half way from the min/max levels. I know that the oil level is in the acceptable range now, but is considered having low oil? The reason why I am asking is because I brought my car to get diagnosed (and fixed) for a faulty oil pressure sending unit problem that occurs rarely when the dash warning pops up saying oil failure and the oil pressure gauge goes to 0. Then when I shut off the car the error disappears. I think it has to be the oil pressure sending unit, especially from other similar issues on this forum. Some history on my car. Well I bought the car from carmax and purchased the maxcare warranty. I was going to put the part and do it myself but it was too easy and I said let me use the warranty (since they would use Porsche parts) and I won't have to buy the part. So when I bring it in they tell me that if they can't find a fault they have to charge me a diagnostic fee. I said ok I know what the problem is and the oil pressure sending unit is covered under the warranty so go ahead. The call me back with the results and told me that their Alltel computer diagnostic system did not read any faults and the first thing they did was check the oil level and it was low. I was upset because I run the oil check every time I run the car and I never received a low oil light on. I ran over there because I thought the technician doesn't know how to read Porsche oil and we confirmed that the oil level was smack in the middle of the min and max lines and no light on the dash. My response was oil level is good. His response was that oil level is low and that could be the cause of the oil pressure sending unit. My first question is that oil level considered have oil that is too low? I need help because I feel Carmax just conned me out of a diagnostic fee because they didn't even proceed to look for a loose wire or anything. They said if the oil level is low thats the first thing that needs to be fixed. I would understand if the oil level is low. But it is in the middle of the dipstick in the acceptable range? Please let me know if my logic or theirs is wrong. Thanks.
