  1. 2005 C2S 997.1 I just changed my fuel injectors and want to check for fuel leaks before starting the engine. Does the fuel pump activate with the key in the key on position? If so, does the pump stay on in that key on position, or does it time out if the engine doesn't start? I have a Durametric if that's needed to have the fuel pump stay on for 10-20 seconds without starting the engine.
  2. Does anyone know where to buy a service manual for the 997.1 Carrera? I cannot find one. I have seen a 996 manual from Bentley manuals, and there are many similarities between the 996 and 997- but there are notable differences, too. Thanks, Jim
  3. Hi , Can anyone advise if replacing the ignition switch 99761815905 will also require new keys cut? Or does it come with a new set of keys maybe? Thanks in advance Reggie
  4. I need to replace the rear tires on my 2007 C4s and it turns out the Michelin Pilot Super Sports are completely unavailable, with no ETA. Even if one makes allowance for the odd size and likely small demand, that is still pretty shocking. What alternative have you tried and what do you recommend? Car is a daily driver, street driven, I value quiet running (not that our cars are *that* quite, but would rather not add running noise).
  5. Hi. I am putting together a project car (2006 C2S 3.8L) and have the radiators fitted except for a small item. My Pet diagram doesn't show how this part goes onto the radiator. Like most of PET it shows the parts exploded but out of context. It is a 997.106.453.00 it is some kind of hose holder. The second picture is this part 997.106.231.01. I don't know where it goes either. I was at the dealer in Long Beach this morning and they said that they didn't know how the item would go onto the car as they didn't have a 2206 997.1 to look at. Scary I know!. This tells me most of these guys are flying by the seat of there pants and the computer. Any pics of this part on the car would be quite helpful. Or a good diagram. Thanks
  6. Hello, 2007 C4S Coupe with Tip here. Bought in 2013 with 26,000 miles, bone stock except the previous owner had replaced the headers and put in Tubi Style exhausts. Well, 2 years and 25,000 miles later, I've had enough of these exhausts: way too noisy for my taste, and attract too much attention (I prefer understated). Would like to put back the stock 997.1 C4S exhaust (as for the headers, don't care one way or another, though suspect I might need the stock headers to fit the rest, but would be happy to let sleeping dogs lie). Will then sell the Tubis. Where can I get used stock exhaust --- reputable second hand source or dismantler? Preferably with some warranty. Of course I can always go to the dealer and drop a new one, but would like to explore the options. The only alternative to stock that I am considering would be some setup that is quieter than stock, but as of now I prefer stock. Thank you for any suggestion.
  7. Will installing 200 cell cats on 997.1 cause a CEL? If so, is there anything that can be done to eliminate it? Also curious whether their use on car with PSE will significantly increase exhaust loudness as I'm not really looking for more sound. Appreciate any feedback including performance experience when combined with competition throttle body and intake plenum. Thank you.
  8. I recently purchased some used radiator air ducts for my 2006 C2S. The airducts looked great and no broken clips in the photo and when I spoke to the seller. However when the air ducts arrived some of the clips where you slide the air ducts onto the radiator were broken. I did see where the seller tried to tape them up to protect them so I can't blame the seller. The post office I can blame. Well has anyone ever repaired their air ducts clips? If so how did you do it? Bodyshop maybe? plastics fabricator? I hate to have to buy two more of these. ocmacman
  9. I signed up for Metromile car insurance (which charges by the mile and uses a GPS tracker that plugs into the OBD2 port). This is great BTW if you don't drive a lot or on a daily basis like me and is saving me at least 50% over regular insurance. The device wouldn't work and it turns out that I no longer have power at the OBD2 port on my 2005 997.1 C2S. It worked fine a few months ago when I last plugged in my engine management interface which also stopped working. I checked the fuse (F1 in Row B) and it looks fine. Any ideas on similar experiences and things to check/resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Hello RT. I am looking to replace the dirver side fender on a 997 2006 Carrera S. It also needs a bumper (front with washers). I also need the stock headlights. I am hoping to do this myself. The fender has quite a few lines running behind it for washers and things. Any tips, DIY for fender replacement or direction to a good 911 repair manual would be outstanding. Thanks. ocmacman
  11. Guys, I am seeking for some help on my 997.1 C2S (2005). 2 months ago, when I was driving my car in the city (low speed), after turning round the corner suddently all dash lights came on and followed by engine cut off. As there was no particular weir noise beforehand, so normal response I turned the key and the engine started but only for 2 seconds before it cut off again. From there, I realized that the rear floor was full of engine oil. The car of course ended up at my mechanic with engine off the car noticing that the IMS bearing was broken inside the housing but no visual damage seem to appear on the IMS itself. Anyway, to cut short I had the ims bearing replaced with taking the whole engine apart. After the repair I took the car for test drive, it seems running fine but when engine is cold, everytime I accelerate from zero, the throttle response feels a bit shakey and doesnt want to accelerate. However once the car has been warmed up, it is back to normal. Can someone please advise me what might be wrong with my car? Will it be sensor issue? It has only done 45,000km. Thanks
  12. http://stuttcars.com/technical/option-codes/997.1/ This site has a complete list of option codes. I can't see how to convert this to a pdf on my ipad (intuitive on my old PC!) FWIW, an awful lot related to leather trim,
  13. Hi everyone! I'm glad I found this forum, seems like there's a nice group of Porsche enthusiasts here! I bought an 2005 Carerra S several weeks ago and have been getting acquainted with her, especially getting use to the 6speed manual transmission. I took her out earlier for a spin and stalled at a stop light. Immediately after that my red light indicator for my Cooling System Temperature Gauge came on and the "Failure Indicator" text is on the display. Being my first Porsche, I'm in quite the panic so I hurried home to have a look at it. I open the engine compartment to check the water coolant levels and it is just over the minimum line. I went online do do some research and the conclusions I've come up with are: - possible engine overheating (though its quite cold here 9 degree celcius, and I drove her for no more than 10 minutes) - a sensor defecting/and or wire/solenoid wear - might need more coolant though she seems to have enough This is where I need some advice, I'm planning to test this out in the following ways: 1) Tomorrow when the engines cooled down, I'll start her up again and see if I still get that error on the gauge 2) If that fails, take her to my dealer and get them to reset the computer via the Durametric device 3) If that fails, take it to the authorized Porsche Dealership and get them to check it out Please do advise if there is anything else I can do or something I've missed out on that I can try. Thanks in advance everyone! :notworthy: P.S. Just a quick little bit, when I bought her the engine light was on, but the dealer told me it'd go away after a few drives since she was sitting in the garage most of the time. After a few drives the engine light did in fact go away. It seems like the indicators on the Porsche 997.1 are very sensitive, which has me hopeful maybe this "Failure Indicator" would go away after it cools down.
  14. For those who has experiences in dealing with ipod adaptor installation to 997 gen 1 with PCM2 system. Can you help to indicate which system you will advise to use. Since the PCM system in the car already has a phone system, therefore, I guess a blue tooth is not necessory. However, I am looking to install a iPod system that can be fully operated via steering wheel and center panel. Hopefully can even display texts other than English just in case. There seems to be a few choices and I am confuse. Which is the BEST or MOST USER FRIENDLY? Assuming that it will be a DIY job, so ease of installation will also be my consideration. Let's further discuss here. Thank you
