  1. Hello. This is my first time posting as this is my first issue with my 2006 Cayenne S and this is also my first Porsche. The vehicle had an aftermarket radio in it when I purchased it and I changed that radio for another one that supported Apple CarPlay. both units are made by pioneer and after looking at the backs of them it appears to be plug and play. I changed everything out and fired it up and everything was great. No issues or errors and the sound worked fine and calls worked fine. The previous installer used only twisted ends and electrical tape to secure the wiring so I took the wiring apart and used wire nuts to make sure nothing came apart while it was being installed and for longevity. After starting the car back up, I received a brake proportioning fault and an oil pressure fault and it told me workshop fault as well. I pulled fuse 40 as I heard it resets the system and plugged it back in. The brake proportioning fault is gone but the oil pressure fault remains. I double checked my wiring work to make sure that I was not missing anything and nothing had come back apart. Everything is indeed attached and plugged in. Now that I have finished my long-winded story, was this fault caused because I knocked something loose or because I left the fiber optic cabling unplugged for too long. I noticed that there was a red light coming from the input and of the fiber optic cabling a couple of times while I was rewiring it. Do I just need to reset this system using a better method or do you think something is wrong with it? Any help would be appreciated and I intend on donating to this forum and website as it seems to be a true source of knowledge and help for the DIY Porsche enthusiast.   2. I am looking to shave some weight off my 02 with factory PSE. My question is,will a fabspeed ( or any) muffler work with the factory PSE set up? Is it just a matter of removal of oem and replacement with aftermarket? plug and play as its been called? Thanks in advance Mike
  3. Hello all, I bought my first Porsche 2 months ago - a 2006 Porsche Boxster S with 40k miles on it. The previous owner had a custom headunit installed professionally - he had them put in a Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS and they routed an iPhone 30pin connector to the center armrest console. Obviously this connector is out of date now and I would like to replace it with a Thunderbolt cable and do some other work. The problem I am having is that I did not receive the instruction manual for the double-din dash kit and cannot figure out how to remove the dash kit brackets to get to the back of the headunit. I don't know what brand the dashkit is but I have seen it in a few screenshots from other people on the forum so it must be fairly common. Pure force was not yielding any progress, so there must be some screws or clips. I can't see any visible screws on the sides that would be holding the headunit in the bracket, and the only clips I see are the four metal clips on the front of the brackets. I've tried pulling outward and inward on them with no results. Does anyone have any experience with these brackets? How do I remove the headunit? I just need to slide it out so that I can plug in some additional cables to the back ports of the radio. Thank you.
