  1. My front wheel was making a rattling noise for about the last week, and this morning as I drove out of my driveway and turned the wheel, I could hear a loud popping noise coming from my wheel whenever I turned. My best guess is that I drove over a pothole and the control arm / bushing moved out of place. Would this be covered under the OE warranty? Or should I take it to a mechanic?
  2. Has anyone installed 08-10 Cayenne Turbo S lower control arm in 955 S. I have MY04 Cayenne S. And can MY06 955 CTTS LCA be installed in MY04 CS? part number for MY09 CTTS is 955-341-017-61. part number for MY06 CTTS is 955-341-017-50 I went to the dealer and compared the two, they look almost identical except for a little bit bigger outer diameter where it joins the upper control arm. It is the #3 bolt location that seems very slightly larger in outer diameter.

CTT Front Airshock Mount Bushing & Control Arm Replacement If you notice your car is squeaking a lot at front, not smooth over bumps, has noises coming out of front, chances are your shock mount bushings are damaged and need replacement. If you need to do this, I hope you can use this tutorial to get it all fixed. Hope it helps. Feel free to give feedback afterwards. Thank you.   4. Folks, I started noticing this intermittent creak/groan on the driver's side front suspension, every time I egress the car, after a spirited drive. I have had some creaking due to the lubrication loss in the ball joint area from the rear and have used the hole-in-the-rubber-boot to inject grease to keep the noise from recurring. I did the same for the front, just to be sure. This noise puzzles me. Based on my research, it may be the front strut mount bearing but didn't want to go about replacing parts without your opinions. It doesn't occur when the steering wheel is moved from corner to corner though or feel different during a drive. Shows up only when there is downward pressure on the foot area in the driver side, during egress or when pressure is applied on the car side fender over/near the strut area. My car is clocking nearly 173K ...so wondering if this can be a simple DIY or figure out the need to have a complete strut bearing and/or strut replacement. Thank you, V

  6. With my Boxster S, it was the lateral arms... the ones that goes front to back. In the 197K miles of ownership, I think I replaced at least all of them twice and a few three times. My 2009 C2S has a clunking/rattle in the right rear. I had it up on jacks and could not find it. I checked the three bolts on the top of the struts, I put a tire iron in there and twisted and wedged and no joint/bushing moved more than the others. I am very sure it is a control arm. So, unless someone in Philly has some chassis ears they can lend me for a day, I want to just replace the most common offender. 997 331 043 01 So, which rear control arm goes first? Anyone know the torque values for this part? Peace Bruce in Philly
  7. Didn't find any TT or awd specific posts regarding this, so I was hoping I could get a quick walk through of the front control arm replacement procedure. My car is an '01 996TT. I found this, and the control arm and track arm look very similar in the picture so I am guessing it is closely resembling ours? ( http://kevingosselin.blogspot.com/2009/08/boxster-control-arm-replacment-in-total.html ) But that link doesn't deal with any front half shafts. Do I need to remove the hub assembly to do my front control arms? Should I have new CV boots/clamps standing by? Thanks for any pointers! -Connor
  8. Anyone know what might cause a rear lower control arm to suddenly break and crack in two? Left side broke and the right side was bent upon inspection. 2005 Carrera with 40K miles.
  9. I'm finally in a position to spend a few dollars on some needed car maintenance. I replaced the drivers door window tracks this past weekend, it was much easier than I was prepared for, which was a great relief, but I digress. My front end is getting a little clunky and so is the back for that matter. I took it to the shop and they put it on the rack and tweaked everything and looked into all of the nooks and cranny. Here's the diagnosis; 1) Motor mounts need replacing and I did look with them and one is real bad cracked and bulging the other is not good, just cracked. 2) Trans. mount, maybe but not sure, will remove the bottom plastic and I said be ready to replace it but not sure. 3) The front control arms bushings are bad and cracked and may be causing a little metal on metal thus the clunking over rough road. 4) I'm just glad it's not the struts, though it might be and we won't know until the control arms are done. (?) Questions; 1) Has anyone changed their own motor mounts? I'm pretty skilled with this would be a driveway job and it seams tougher than brakes and rotors and the window rails too. 2) I won't even think about doing the control arms myself. Has anyone had this work done for reasons as stated above? Heard of this type of issue? Your results? Your cost? Of course I'm in CA the SF Bay Area which tends to distort $$$. Thanks, Gary
