Hi, Everyone, I am new to this forum and first of all I would like to say that this site is the best for information on maintenance, repair and tips of all Porsche sites on the web. I am currently a new owner of a 2010 Porsche Cayenne Base with 70,000 miles and so far except for the clogged cowling and a/c drains that i fixed (thanks to this site) it has been the best car I have owned. My question is, the owners manual says that the ATF should be changed every 160,000 miles or I think 12 years. Is this safe or should I be doing it more often regardless of what they say. What do you experienced owners recommend, I Love this car and I want it to last as long as possible. All previous maintenance had been done at the stealership and I don't see any record of them changing the ATF before I got it. Thanks In advance. -
A shop overfilled my transmission on a 2005 997 6spd. They used the wrong fill plug. I drove the car from their shop home about 45 miles mostly highway before noticing. I called the shop and they said no worries they will take care of it but I would need to get the car back to them. I jacked up the car and placed level on jack stands. I pulled the correct fill plug and at least 2 quarts came out. by inspecting the transmission it looks like the fluid was coming out around the passenger side axle. Does anyone know what could be damaged by driving the car with an overfilled transmission. I am confident the shop will make good but I would feel much better if I understood possible damages to the transmission/seals. -
I have recently heard that there is an upgrade tiptronic gearbox oil/fluid available in the market which should give a better response for the Tip box. Does this really work? Have anyone tried before? I am interested to learn as I have realized that the tip at high revs seems not responding as good when compares to mid to low range revs. Thx -
Hi, I've been lurking for a while with my 2004 CTT. I love the car and haven't really had many issues other than the normal coolant pipes. I do all my own work, and this is my dail driver, so the work is much more simple than my other cars. I have two, hopefully, basic questions: 1. the Diff "Locks"...are those viscous diffs or truely locking? 2. Because Burmah oil is hard to come by in the states, is there a fluid that is recommended other than the porsche part? i know redline has a gl5 rated fluid, but if there are clutchpacks in the lockers....i would hate to decrease the locking ability of the discs by using a full synthetic oil. I've seen people using M1, Redline MT-90 all the way to 75w-90 GL5, AMSOIL... My theory is if the lockers are truely mechanical, then i won't be as worried with a change in gear oil....but if they do rely on friction discs.....i'll stick with the OEM. TIA
