Pulling the front end on the GT3 to get at a dead horn... found the dust boot on the front strut torn. Has anyone replaced one of these? I had a competition suspension set up from Jae Lee at Mirage in San Diego and don't want to mess it up, but need to replace the boot. Can I just remove the mounting at the top and drop the suspension and replace the boot from the top? ANy help on this is greatly appreciated!

Looking to choose R-SPEC tyres for my GT3. Only doing club level track days, not full circuit racing or Targa rallies. Will use my R-specs on a dedicated set of BBS rims, leaving road tires on my standard rims. Some say the Yokohama A050 is the ultimate and obviously its top dollar. What do people think is the best “bang for your bucks” value option? including from the following: -Yokohama AD08 or V105 -Dunlop DZ03G -Hankook z221 -Kumho V70a -Toyo R888 Appreciated and regards to all

Hello All, Joined the Porsche Owner World coupla weeks ago and this Forum today :D Purchased a 2004 996.2 GT3 Comfort Spec that I am using as a Daily Driver, and loving it :D Needs a bit of work as I am reverting it to Factory Spec i.e. removing SatNav & iPod peripherals, wheels back to original Silver etc. Previous cars are: 1964 VW Type 1 1969 Porsche 912 2007 VW Golf R32 Look forward to both gleening sage advice and contributing when possible! Working on the delete. moved all the stuff around to get the radio and climate control up top. got the part (986-552-113-02). The part shows Boxster 986 (1997-2004) (up Through 99). I have a 2001 986 S. The holes/studs don't seem to line up... Has anyone else seen this and found a work-around? I'm curious about rattles and squeaks even though it looks like the middle console will hold it down some. I've squished and shoved this thing as far back as I think it will go. (driver's side has the carpet panel removed. i think a short-shifter is called for. adding some electronics to put a USB charger and AUX in the arm-rest console)

Can any one assist with determining if it is possible to retrofit Park Assist into a Mk1 996 GT3? I understand the control module is under the left seat, there are 4 sensors in the rear bumper and the wiring will need to be run from the cabin to the rear as it will not be in situ. if I understand the ECU (?) will need to be set for Park Assist, my first question is can the Mk1 GT3 ECU (?) handle Park Assist? Thank you, Great Site. I am not yet convinced that i want to depart from an original spec, but parking will be tight end to end in the garage. I will use a bump stop on the floor as I reverse in and the aural warning would be extra protection.

Hi, Just looking to get peoples opinions on this car: GT3 Replica based on 996 with genuine parts: 73k miles. Description: This car has had extensive work carried out during the 4 years i have owned it,with no expense spared, the car started out as a 99996 carrera, it has had full 997 body conversion including rear wings, back panel, sills, and front end, this is not a fibre glass conversion it was done using genuine steel parts at a reputable body shop, the car is not wrapped, it was painted in candy white which is the original colour used for the porsche 997 gt3, 1 year ago at a cost of 3500 pounds, in 2007 the car had a claim due to a wiring fault, which was fully repaired before i bought it, you have to appreciate this car for what it is now, not what its worth in glasses guide, as it is quite unique, i have spent a fortune and a lot of time on this car over the period of time i have owned it, always kept it maintained and always garaged, and now its time to let someone else enjoy it, it will not go out of fashion and you will not get bored of driving it, you would have to spend 50k plus on an original white 997 gt3, for a fraction of the price you could own this, spec includes 997 gt3 mirrors, bumpers, rear engine lid and spoiler, gt3 997 carbon fibre seats, uprated and lowered suspension, 20 inch asa wheels unmarked no kerbing, with exellent tyres, sat nav and dvd fitted, aluminium and black interior trim, xenon headlight conversion. What would you value this at too? Any help and advice appreciated.

So, I replaced my GT3 front end after my GF had a bit of an off at a winter driving camp. Got everything back together except for the plug that goes in the center hole on the fender. The GT3 has an opening here for the center radiator. I haven't got a radiator there so I don't need the hole. The old part has this number: The dealer can't find this part and they even emailed Porsche in Germany that said this part-number isn't in their system... Any ideas?
