Greetings! I recently bought some replacement halogen assemblies to replace my browned/burned headlights. I'm going to use the halogens that are currently in the headlights, but am wondering what the best option is these days for HID, LED/Projector replacement. Above all else, I don't want to melt my lenses, and I want to maintain the stock look of the car, cause ya know, it's gonna be a collectors edition one day ? The most recent topics I've seen are at least 4 years old... I have recently left the US for France with my 2007 997.1 C4S. One of the (several) slight differences between a US and a FR 997 are the headlights. I have the Litronic Xenon headlights (round xenon lens above, 'regular' lamp below) but they are not marked with the E or e signifying homologation in the EU. So I am on the hunt for a pair of used EU-marked Xenon headlights in order to pass the homologation inspection. I have tried leboncoin.fr, passionauto.fr, jeanbuser.com, cupspirit.com, no luck. Anyone have a spare pair of used EU 997 headlights laying around? :-) Or better yet, any advice on where to search next? I can get a pair of new ones from my local Porsche dealer but the pair will run me 2500€. A little dear just for an inspection, methinks. Thanks in advance! -
Is anyone familiar with the one-piece LED replacement headlights for the 986 Boxster. There are a number of them available on eBay from a variety of vendors, including xtrememotorcars and MK AUTOWORLD. They claim to be a simple, no modification, swap. I'm skeptical, but if it works, it would be an affordable and good-looking replacement solution.

Hi all, I read about a headlight fix (with pictures) on Renntech that included using a Dremel to cut or shave the clip on the white connector but can't seem to find it for the life of me. My right headlight (low beam) works when I tighten it into place with the headlight tool but when traveling on the highway for a few mins, the light goes off. It seems to stop working when the light body shifts out slightly from the "locked" position. When I physically push the light into place using both hands, the connection is made again and the light stays on until I drive a short distance. I've tried cleaning the molex connector male and female pins with connector fluid, filed the connections with a tiny diamond file, etc but I can't seem to fix this connection issue. So I'd like to try the Dremel tool fix but can't find the article now. Can anyone remember this article or what was done? Or any other suggestions? Thanks! Enlai -
Hi, I need to replace headlights mounting on right passenger side due to faulty lock. I have bought new mounting but one of the fastening screw, marked by red arrow, under a plate, looks inaccesible without removing front bumper. Is there any way to replace the mounting without removing the bumper? Br, Romuald P.S. Please note that attached drawing shows left mounting (driver side) but I have only that one.

So, I was searching for something less risky and intensive to help with the problem of the dull and hazy headlights on my 2003 C4 Cabriolet. Not fancying the headlight sanding and buffing route (I'm less than handy and would probably ruin the headlight in some way), I stumbled across a presumptuous sales guy at a gas station and somehow went from angry to happy. I was sitting there getting a fill up and this guy wanders up and sprays Carnauba Wax out of a can onto my headlights. In a flash, I am out of the car enraged and telling him to get the **** away from my precious. He insists in cleaning off the residue to make his point, at which point he is receiving perpetual warning from me about the consequences of damaging my pride and joy. Anyhow, he takes off the residue, buffs it with a microfiber cloth and the headlight is like it hasn't been for a couple of years. It didn't take the scratches out, but it seemed to remove the haze/odixdation or whatever the hell it is that makes the headlights look foggy. I bought the can, and for some reason (I know not why), this stuff seems to work. I won't go on about the obvious uses for this material, but I was VERY pleased with the results I got. Not perfect, but many times better than it was. I'd recommend this as a great interim measure, that's a lot less hassle than sanding and buffing, with less permanent results of course, but also much less risk. Not sure if the same holds up for regular carnauba wax, as this is out of a spray can, but it definitely worked for me - much to my surprise. -
In replacing a headlight bulb the blue AMP connector to the headlight housing broke. Now I have to repin the new connector to the harness. I used without success a SIR Tools 12 piece swiss army knife pin extractor tool, any suggestions for a better tool or on how to remove the pins ? The tool tip that fits the connector is a 'Flat Twin Blade 1.6 mm'. Thanks.
