  1. About 5/2020 SiriusXM free weekend download affected many PCM units requiring reset. Mine included. The reset fixed the continuous rebooting but left my location corrupted- locates me about 150 miles away and the compass is off 180 degrees. SiriusXM seemed to admit to causing the problem as they had me take the car back to the dealer so that they could communicate directly with the technician. There may have been a fix. Told to wait and see if held for 48 hours. Reverted back to corrupted state by the time I drove off a few hours later. Worst case? They tried to surreptitiously tie into my location for ad tracking. Fix would be to initialize the system. Then do updates. Any ideas? Told to buy a new PCM for $4000 USD. Prefer not to do that. Thanks.
  2. The navigation dvd drive in my 2006 997.1 C4S has failed. It will not eject the dvd. I want to remove the drive unit in order to attempt a repair or, if necessary, replace it. My problem is that I have been unable to remove the plastic piece that covers the dvd drive and audio amp. Porsche said "it just drops down." I have pushed, pulled, and cursed at the cover but it will not budge. I hesitate to use a tool as a lever for fear of breaking the cover. Do I need to eat more Wheaties so I can pull harder on the cover, or am I just missing a simple solution?
  3. Hi everybody I have never used a forum before and I don't know how it works exactly so I am hoping I don't break any rules here I just bought a 2009 Carrera but the navigation is not installed. I want to install the Navigation but I am not really sure what parts I'm missing. I took it to a Porsche dealership and they told me that I need to buy the entire PCM for 5K. I read somewhere that you only need to buy the Nav module where the disk is and the antenna but I don't know if this is true or not. Any advice?/ Thanks in advance
  4. Hi i have 2009 c4s with pcm 3.0 no nav , i have been experiencing constant issues with the bluetooth , brought it in and out of good faith and 500$ porsche replaced the unit 2 times, after there head field tech came to the dealership the conclusion was made that all pcm 3,0 have a 48 second delay for calls to patch through or they don't come through at all . So basically if your on a call , walk to your car unlock and start it phone connects but there is no sound resulting to the other party hanging up , after that you try calling back and same issue until the third time if your lucky . So after 8 times at the dealership in 6 moths time not understanding the issue , the answer was clear all cars with nav don't have this issue and as the field tech told me 99% of cars sold have nav so we never really had this issue and there is nothing we can do but change the whole thing for 7000 + install and other little parts . obviously i am not going to spend 7000$ for it to work properly . So next is that porsche north america contacts me telling me that this is normal functionality of the pcm and that there is nothing more we can do and for all this inconvenience we will send you a 2000$ check . So i told her but you realize there is a issue that has slipped through Porsche hands and we have just discovered it, a flaw that nobody realized and that it just slipped through. I then told her but you have a fix and its replace my pcm with nav and everything will work fine , her answer was no and thats final ,so i asked where i sit indicated in the manual that cars without nav function this way ? she had nothing to say . Minutes later sending me by email a confidential letter that i need to sign and return basically releasing them from any further actions and for me to accept this as proper functionality of the pcm as Porsche specs . what to i do ? sue them ? take the money ? I'm sure if i contact stuttgart and ask if this is normal functionality the answer will be no. thank you MM
  5. FRUSTRATION! I recently purchased from the parts department of my dealership the "Navigation Update" (958 044 902 51) which has been made available on Porsche's Techquipment site as of this month. Although there is no date associated with this update, it is apparently new as of 2014. It turns out that the purchase is nothing more than an authorization key which allows the dealership to upload maps which it has in its possession and receives periodically. The update claims that there is a "significantly higher degree of detail . . . and additional POCs". I cannot detect any of this after the update was performed. Upon asking the dealer, I was told that the latest version is 997.642.273.56 - Map Data PCM 3.X – 06.2013 –SW versions: 7PP.919.193.CC. That is, the version is from June 2013. And I wonder - what have I paid for? There is no literature available from Porsche as to what has been actually updated in this version of the maps. There is nothing visible, there is apparently no way to know the actual map version that has been installed, as there is no way to seek this version from the PCM itself. And further, how is the latest version of maps available to the dealer from June 2013? The response from the dealer is ignorance as to all these questions. Does anyone have any insight, advice, similar frustration???? At least, the only actual visible update that I got was the PCM software which went from v. 2.4 to v. 2.46.
