I bought some new headlights for my Porsche Cayenne turbo 2003, because the old ones were really yellow and scratched up. the headlight I bought is called Headlights set daylight LED TFL look Porsche Cayenne 03-07 black. Free shipping for many products! the instructions that came with the light told me to remove the old motor in the old headlights and put them in the new ones. but what i noticed is that the wiring on the old one has 5 pins and the new one only has 3 pins/wires Another thing is on the back side of the old headlight there are 12 pins I think where you plug them into the car. But on the new one, 2 pins are missing. And when I put everything back together the only thing that will turn on is the low beam. the new headlight included light bulbs for the low beam but not for the high beam so I also had to buy new ones for that because the lightbulbs in the old one didn't fit in the new headlight. and the turn signal won't work. -
Hello Everyone. I just got myself my first ever Porsche. It's a 986 -1999. My problem is that the key fob does not work. A local company tested it and according to them it works and sends a signal. when i insert the key in the door i did manage to lock the door on a couple of occasions. but that might be 2 out of 100 tries. So no unlocking. BUT the central locking button on the dash works and does the job and locks/unlocks the doors. I can't figure out what it is? I've read every single thread online i think. Does enyone have a clue what i should do as a next step? I can start buying parts to narrow it down. But you knowledge would be very much appriciated. Thanks.

Hello Renntech Community. Hope everyone has had a lovely day/ evening. Well... After owning 2 previous porsche's there is no doubt we all run into A LOT of issues. I have an 04 Boxster S with 117K miles on her. Well taken care of, just recently had an oil change. While driving my car on the interstate i felt a drag in the acceleration.It felt like the clutch was slipping but after driving it a little more it cleared up... (Previously was an oil leak, I tightened the drain plug and added more oil prior to this incident and all was well) Then, while driving the car would accelerate any more, I attempted to downshift but it kept happening. The car died after I pulled off on the highway and after continuous hours of attempting and failing I called a flat bed and had her taken home. I ran tests on the relay, All is well with it. I added gas and a octane booster to attempt to clean it out. That didnt work. Checked fuses and those are all good. I suspect a fuel pump but Im not sure. Hi all, just purchased a 1961 notchback 1600s, I have never drove a Porsche until the day I purchased this car, got the bug now and i love Porsches more than ever now, the car is in very good shape, but i want to change all the fluids, grease all the parts, and do all the maintenance there is, the oil was so dark when I checked the level and it was all the way to max line of the stick, i would appreciate if you guys can tell me where to buy all the maintenance parts, and where can I buy the shop manual, and what are the things I should do, there is a small leak on the floor from engine very small, but a palm size of oil from transmission on the ground, thanks guys cheers😁

Hi All, Does anyone have the original alignment/factory specs for the 2014 981 boxster w/18" wheels? I'm going for any alignment as my new car tracks a little to the left and just wondering the proper specs... The wheel actually seems to track all over the place but straight..constant inputs required... I just hope its an alignment issue and not the electric steering..as I never had that before.. Thanks

I have a 2004 Cayenne S. I just got it recently, interior lights have never worked. I checked the fuse and it was blown. It calls for a 20 amp fuse but the blown one in it was a 25 amp. I had the key in the ignition if I remember correctly and put the new 20 amp fuse in and everything came on. Side note, I noticed a weird glitch with the light above the rear passenger side door and the switch on the main map reading light. The interior lights had gone off and I turned the back on and the backlight above to passenger side door was very dim. I slid the switch on the overhead console for the main map light and the rear light came back to full strength. I found that odd. Everything then worked fine. I took the key out. Next time I put the key in, immediately heard the fuse blow. Any ideas on where to start? -
Hello there, this is my first post here and I’m writing because of problem with my boxster. Today in the morning I’ve started my 2002 boxster and noticed strange sounds from the engine/ rear side of the car It’s a metallic, grinding sound like a loose piece of metal or something like that Sound disappears when you press gas and comes back once you loose the pedal, I don’t know if it changes while engine is warm Also, check engine light shown up yesterday, when I connected my BT OBD2 there was no error code. I came with that to workshop also, and they said it’s a catalyst efficiency error. I’ve had that error code a while ago, I’ve replaced mass air flow meter and check engine light disappeared. I think it might be a problem with maf again because I bought not the cheaper, not the original one, but why are there these strange sounds? I’m worried about this. Could it be catalyst this time? Or again should I replace maf? This time I’ll buy original one. here are two Videos I made Also I’m sorry if you can’t understand something, my english is not perfect. Me and my dad have recently bought a 2001 Porsche Boxster that has not been run in 2 years, as a "fairly easy" project to start with. So where to begin we did all the basics for a car that hasn't run in 2 years, we replaced the spark plugs and tubes, so then when we tried to throw some gas in it wont let us, we have checked the E6 fuse as was suggested on other forums, we slowly threw in some gas at a time, about 5 gallons in total. When we tried to start it it didn't, so when we tried to troubleshoot we found that it has no spark. So does anyone have any idea or suggestions on how to fix any or all of these things?

Hi all, First of all I apologize if I do anything wrong since I only just created this account in order to ask this community a question. We own a Porsche 996 Targa 2002 and as we all know the 996 is prone to engine problems such as IMS and oil and coolant mixture. Today when I was checking if the engine still had enough oil and coolant and decided they needed a fillup I saw something that I did not really like. I've uploaded two pictures one of how the coolant looks and another picture of where you add the oil. Is the yellowish stuff you see ok or is this the first sign of the oil and coolant mixture? The car seems to run fine and never had any problems with engine temperature, hope you guys can help me out on this one! With kind regards, A somewhat nervous 996 owner.

Iv recently purchased a Porsche 966 C4S with 55k miles with a rear end wreck, it had sat for at least 2 months with out a proper start up. upon arrival i did an inspection, it had a few pulleys bent including the tensioner pulley so i can't necessarily run the serpentine belt with out removing the engine and replacing it, air box was broken so it had to be removed including the mass airflow sensor. exhaust was untouched. no damage to the block. after preparing it i started the car for the first time, it ran good i listened in no ticks or knocks everything was running fine ( it ran with out a serpentine belt nor a air box/mass airflow sensor) i ran it for a few minutes then it started to have a slight tick and gradually increased to a steady ticking, i ran a OBD2 test for fault codes, the only codes i got was a mass airflow sensor fault and the throttle body code, other than that no other codes. i read around online i should replace the oil, because it could have been a stuck lifter or sticking valves. i changed the oil with 5w40 and added a valve cleaner to my gas, ran it a a few times for a few minutes at a time not to over heat my engine, at the moment i don't know if this may fix the problem because i can't necessarily drive the car, if any one can tell me if I'm at risk of loosing my engine if i do fix the engine up drive it around, or i should fix it up and take it for a drive and it may go away. or i should just take it straight to a mechanic. Please let me know your thoughts. -
Hi, I have a 2008 Porsche Cayenne with a a CEL for P2404. The car runs completely normal and this is the only check engine light code. The only information I found on this is: P2404 Evaporative Emission System Leak Detection Pump Sense Circuit Range/Performance Possible cause of fault - Insufficient vacuum (system has a leak or blockage) - Short circuit to B+ in signal line - Leakage diagnosis pump faulty (diaphragm or reed switch sticks, internal solenoid valve stays closed or is blocked) -DME control module faulty I was wondering if there was anyone with a similar issue or anyone with knowledge of a reported fix. If not, I'm a pretty good DIYer. Does anyone know how I should go about diagnosing this? -
I was able to go visit my PCar project today. Man I love being around so many Porsches even if many of them are in need of some major TLC. Well my car needs a fender and front bumper to start with. We will get to the major bits soon enough. Please take a look at the picture. I am trying to find a service manual that can show me how to install a fender on this 2006 Carrera S Sport edition. It is a Tip+ (whatever that gets you). Does anyone have a diagram that can guide me to what gets plugged into where etc.? Also if you can recommend a good service manual with engine install instructions that would be great. Thanks. bluemajikII.

I have a 2005 Cayenne S and the Nav thinks it is in the Atlantic Ocean. I get 0 Sat 0D-GPS on the info screen. Also the compass in the dash cluster always reads north. It still tries to navigate, but is several hundred miles off. I have checked the gps connections and they seem fine, but the compass makes me think that the GPS antenna may not be my issue. I believe it is pcm 2.1 as it uses nav DVD located under passenger seat. Any suggestions or help is appreciated. -
Hi Everyone, I have been lurking in the forum for a while and soaking up all I can gather about the Cayenne. Thanks for making this forum an amazing repository for all things Porsche. I have been in the market for a truck for sometime now. My truck of choice was the full sized Range Rover Supercharged..however, I took my wife for a test drive of the Cayenne and she was completely blown away. I was sold as well on the on road behavior. Things that are important to me 1. Character and Driveability 2. Reliability 3. Gas mileage to some extent (dont want a 11mpg truck but 16 - 20 ish is great..my current car gives me 16 MPG instead of the claimed 22 mpg and I am ok with that) I like speed but I am not a speed demon. I value nuanced driving, handling and a command seating position the most. I aim to own this car for the next 10 years if it will go that far. Also, I dont want to spend crazy money on buying a new Cayenne..cant afford it. So now, with that being said, my quest has led me to 2 Cayennes and would love to get your help deciding which would be a good choice to go for.. 1. 2009 Cayenne Turbo Key points: - 57.7K miles, Porsche CPO, 1 Owner, feels tight as a drum, price 46K..nicely specced out but doesn't have PDCC - When I drove it I experienced some turbo lag upto 3K then it took off. The handling was taut and I liked it a lot - I wasnt too happy about the turbo lag..I dont know how the naturally aspirated engine behaves but the turbo lag was a bit of a let down - Since this is my first Porsche, I havent interacted with the local dealer beyond the sales call, but he seemed okay, knew his stuff and the service manager was very knowledgeable - Once concern I have with a turbo charged vehicle is the added complexity of the turbo and how that impacts reliability. Also, I live in a very cold climate so will the turbo under perform in colder months?? 2. 2011 Cayenne S Key Points: - 34K miles, CARMAX car, 1 Owner, price 55.5K - Nicely specced out, obviously better interiors but not full leather like the Turbo - I haven't driven it so I dont know how good it is. I can get it shipped to my location by CARMAX but I want to understand if its even worth the effort - I am not comfortable buying such an expensive car w/o any warranty so I will need to factor in $4K for a Carmax warranty. I am not sure if the Carmax warranty is good enough..I will need to research that further. But at ~$60K thats the upper reaches of my budget Some other factors to account for: - I dont intend to take the truck/ car for hardcore offroading but will be doing snow passes, fireroads and trails definitely..I dont know if the presence or absence of the dual range transfer box changes that (07-10 vs 11+ Gen 2 Cayennes) - I am mechanically inclined and do wrench a bit (do oil changes and simple stuff on my motorcycle) but I honestly dont think I will have the time to do any of that for the Cayenne - Finally, this will be my primary daily driver vehicle. Hi guys, I am a new memebr and have owned my Porsche Carrera C4S Cab launch car since April of this year. I would like some input please... I did not particularly like my lobster fork wheels so I found a set of 19" Porsche Classic II wheels locally. I was told by the individual that the wheels came of a 2010 C4S and are OEM original. I bought them yesterday but after careful inspection while cleaning them this afternoon, I noticed that there is a "Made in Italy' stamp embossed inside the wheel. I got concerned so I went on line and read that OEM wheels also always have the off set size of the wheel embossed on the outside of the wheel by the stem valve - mine do not. Can someone please tell me if I have a set of knock-offs? That is not what I wanted nor what I was told. P.S. the vendor is a very nice guy and swears he bought them from a Porsche dealer in California as original stock. Would really appreciate anything you guys can add...

Need some help deciding. Currently looking to spend $40-$50k on a used car in the area. CPO or non-CPO, still deciding. I've come up with a list of 3 cars that I think fit my needs. My situation - Children: One girl (2 years) / One boy (on the way in Jan), wife has a new SUV that we use 100% of the time for going out with the kids - car purchasing ~Spring 2013 - invited to at least 3-5 member only track days a year. Currently have to borrow my manager's Cayman S, but would like to get a track worthy car for sessions. - only drive about 10 miles a day to work, but would primarly use this car on weekends for fun Needs - to be track worthy - between $40-$50k - obviously looking for lowest mileage / best maintained - some sort of backseat room for car sets (if I had to transport my kids in emergency) - not sure if CPO would help if I'm keeping this new car low mileage and if tracking the car would void CPO? My opinions on the 3 choices I've come to... Porsche 911 (996/997) Pros: - Most Balanced of the bunch - Probably quickest on the track - Actually a good amount available in the area - Already fimiliar with driving Cayman/911 around the track - Best styling Cons: - uber small backseat - most expensive to purchase / maintain - will probably have to buy higher mileage to get within $40-$50k range - not sure it will pass the wife test BMW M3 (e92) - Coupe/Sedan Pros: - Amazing engine sound - Backseat Room in both Coupe/Sedan - Great track times - Probably best daily driver Cons: - lots of M3s around here - becoming hard to find - $ marked up / popular Mercedes-Benz c63 AMG Pros: - More amazing engine sound - Most backseat room - Most HP/Torque, Raw power - Fastest strait line performance Cons: - Auto only - gas mileage (but, not too concerned) - very heavy car and probably least track worthy I've test drove all of them and love each one. But, which one fits my situation the best? Sorry for long post... -
