  1. I have a 2003 TT and recently the PSM traction control light will flash briefly (maybe 3-5 seconds) and the engine drops power, no other indicators, no check engine light, nothing....light stops flashing and engine power comes back. If i turn the PSM off, i have no problems, but with ~4,000 rpm shift points in auto and Borla exhausts, the neighbors are getting tired of me. I was by my mechanic's shop the other day on an unrelated issue and he hooked up the Porsche computer and there were no stored faults in the PSM Management. Anyone seen this? Any ideas?
  2. Yesterday, when I returned from a drive of about 30 minutes, I saw the Four Wheel Drive system Faulty message on the display. After about couple of hours, I started the car and the warning showed up again. I took it for a 5 minute drive, turned off, restarted it and the warning showed up again, decided to drive it back home, but it was a bit jerky when it started moving from rest and then gave PSM failure warning and then Lock overloaded warning. Was able to drive it home without any more jerkiness. I doubt that it is battery related but will have it checked. One thing I noticed is that the front tires are worn from sides only as the front LCA need to be replaced. Could these cause these warnings? Or is something else going on? thanks
  3. Long story short, one day noticed water in the drivers footwell, found a leak on the door to body wire harness. Dried car out. Car was 100% before this, seemed to be OK even when wet. 2 Weeks later, car started getting random faults on the MFI (Brake, ABS, PSM, etc). Would clear, then come, then clear. Battery is about 7 months old (replaced when I first got these errors) Ton of errors in durametric, then one day would not start or move out of if it did start. Peeled carpet back. Found 3 wires. 1 Crimped, 2 soldered. 1 of the soldered was gone, so cut that out, butt soldered and then repeated for the other 2 as I heard they usually go bad. Cleared all the DTCs with durametric, car started fine, all looked good in happyville. 2 weeks later got a check engine light, read codes, p0119, p0117 and p1552 (from memory, may be wrong). Seemed to be the engine temp sensor. Thought maybe a fluke, reset and ignored. This has been on and off last few months. I also noticed when hooking the durametric, or other code readers, it seemed to create a draw on the system, and the engine would idle rough, or the e throttle would not respond if I tried to drive with it plugged in. Pulled the durametric and all was fine, same with a bluetooth ODBII module I have. I replaced relay 433 under the driver's seat, and this seemed to cure that problem, since it provides relayed power to the CANBUS. About 3 months later got a PSM failure, at 45MPH and car went into limp mode. Restarted car, error was gone. Seemed fine for another month, got the same PSM failure yesterday, car seemed to be lurching a bit in slow moving traffic when it came up. Could the bad temp sensor be triggering this? It has slowly gotten worse I assume as once in awhile I see my gauge stops working. Or did I miss something else with my wire repairs. I am at the point ready to rip out passenger wiring under the carpet and inspect, but I suppose I should just replaced the impossible to reach temp sensor first, as it really does seem bad at this point. I also notice all the fuse block fuses for the PSM are on the right hand side, makes me wonder if the wiring issue is there. Just seems weird I have all these problems at once.
  4. Odd one for the group here: I have a 2004 Turbo Cab (manual) with X50 that I have owned since early 2010 and put around 30K miles on in that time (Bought with ~20k miles). I recently found a 2004 Turbo Cab (Tiptronic) with ~29,000 miles that was such a good deal that my parents purchased it. I drove the thing recently while visiting and a couple times in constant-radius turns on back roads, the PSM intervened out of nowhere (The first time it happened I actually thought I hit a shift button with my thumb and downshifted mid corner). Anyway, I got it to intervene once more in a pretty benign turn. There certainly wasn't 7 degrees of slip angle and I have to push my own car much harder (read: screw up the corner entry) to get PSM to intervene. I guess my question(s) is/are this: Is there a difference in the PSM software between the Tiptronic cars and Manual?, a malfunction in the Tip? Very interested to hear the responses. Thanks
  5. I was troubleshooting code P2189, undo some vacuum line to test for leaks ... this is a different issue all together. I mentioned it because I unhooked vacuum lines. I reconnected everything (hoses), I did not start the engine because I was still working on it. My engine was running fine for weeks even with P2189 - not rough like some mentioned! Two days later, In the morning, I used the car to do errands, I drove for about 10 minutes. At the stop sign, I stepped on the brake, the car won't stop like it used to! It rolled slowly and then stopped. It's like taking a much much longer distant to stop. I did not see anything abnormal on the dashboard except for the CE for the P2189 code! no smell of anything. I continued to drive the car at the normal speed (35 mile/hr) but kept a large distance from the car in front. About 10 minutes later, the brake felt normal like nothing had happened. I drove for another 10 minutes to reach my destination. 2 hours later, jumped in the car to drive home, the brakes felt normal. About 2 minutes the PSM light came on, brakes are still OK. 5 minutes later I pulled into the bank, turned off the engine for couple minutes then restarted the engine, the PSM light is OFF, the brake is normal... I drove home. Now, where do I start troubleshoot the brakes and the PSM light? I don't have the Durametric tool. Or must I have the Durametric to troubleshoot? can I rent one from someone? Your help is needed. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Man N
  6. Hi all, My 2004 Cayenne 9PA 3.2 has suddenly developed a fault. It started by saying "four wheel drive error" on the dashboard and shortly after "ABS failure" followed by "PSM" failure. The centre console four wheel drive system switch (behind the gear change) is also not working (LED light not going on if the dial is moved). I changed the battery with a brand new one, top of the range and went to my local friendly Porsche mechanic who run it through diagnostics, cleared codes and they popped up back again which he then attributed to an electrical fault in one of the cables. As he is a mechanic and does not cover electrics he suggested I find a specialist that covers electrics. I checked all the fuses and they look ok. The car drives ok but when started it seems like it is trying to lock the wheels (like when in the past the PSM would engage). Any help? I have a tester so would not mind checking continuity of ground points etc, but rather than taking the whole thing apart it would be great if any of you has a suggestion - which would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Alex
  7. Does anyone know where this is? I was able to catch a code today when my PSM light came on, and I went into limp mode at highway speeds. I pinout would be nice, so I can trace the can-bus wiring. DTC 1314 - DME Googling around, sounds like loss of connectivity to the DME, all other modules have not logged any issues talking to the DME. This is the last of symptoms a massive wire harness failure I had late last year, after repair this is the 3rd time this has popped up. DME has no codes, may be a red herring but the AWS advanced weight module, I have trouble talking to it and my "Passenger Airbag light Disabled" no longer lights up.
  8. Hello guys, Ii rented an innova to clear the codes, i just had too many old one, but weirdly a PSM failure i had for a while, but came back :-(. While it was out i was able to press the PSM button off/on and it lit up and off and appeared everything worked. Also the sports button and that struss type button could be turned on / off. Now all are out :-( I wonder where i can find out what is messed up. I went under the drivers seat, i will attach pics soon, and will like to buy those connectors with cables to re-do all that cabling down there, it is ugly. Ideas?
  9. hello i got new speed sensors, maf but a second hand abs hydraulic unit... this codes are from durametric 5281 Version coding 4400 Transverse accleration sensor 4480 Booster pump 22 CAN: rear right wheel rpm from PSM implausible 25 CAN: front left wheel rpm from PSM implausible 31 CAN: speed from PSM implausible 32 CAN: lateral acceleration from PSM implausible 38 CAN: PSM communication disturbed gretting
  10. Both yesterday and today I got both PSM & ABS lights on the dash during a hard acceleration (maybe some wheel spin) in 2nd gear. The lights popped at about 5K and stayed on, but turned off after shutting the car off and restarting. I checked codes in ABS 5.7 via Durametric and got 5525, Incorrect data transfer with DME master control unit. Any thoughts?? 1999 Carrera 4, 124,000 miles.
  11. PSM light is showing on very mild/slow turns, both in right and left directions. It causes a weird driving condition when its flickering, loss of power, feels like sputtering. All seems fine if if I turn PSM off. Any suggestions? Is this a bad sensor(s)? If so, where is it? I had a a P2189 Lean Bank 2 at Idle, and I replaced the MAF, checked the fuel pumps (all good) and (mechanic) smoked the system. Found leak when smoked cold at a variable timing cam gasket (replaced). No leak now except tiny amount from left turbo. That code seems gone now and nothing else seems to be relevant to PSM.
  12. Hi, My first post to the forum, hopefully someone can help, I had a problem with the air con not blowing cold, my first port of call was to check the fuses. all ok but when I started the car again I had PSM failure and PASM failure messages on the dash. Car hadn't moved. I have run Durametrics and tried clearing the faults. I now have the following fault codes. PSM fault codes 5400: Fault sport mode 4444: Steering angle sensor not initialised Air conditioning 8023: Outside air/recirc. air flap motor I was wondering if anyone has come across this and if there is a quick fix for any of the above, it just seams strange that the faults just appeared even though the car had not moved and all that was checked was the fuses.
  13. Running into some trouble trying to bleed my rear brakes and I've isolated the issue, but don't know how to resolve it. Hoping someone here more familiar with the PSM module might be able to help. Issue: I'm using a Motive bleeder and have good flow into the "H" (rear) input port of the ABS block, but I have no flow from either the HL (rear left) or HR (rear right) output ports of the ABS block. I know the PSM system doesn't have a mechanical proportioning valve, but could the system have electronically isolated the rear circuit? If so, any idea how I might reset it? That could be the wrong track... maybe I have a bad relay or solenoid.
  14. Hello All, my PSM is back on my '04 S. I cleared the codes, disconnected the negative battery cable and PSM comes back after about a day or so. No CEL on only PSM. Error codes P2186 Throttle/Pedal Pos. Sensor/Switch D/E voltage correlation-implausible signal, test conditions are not complete fault is currently active and is not causing a DTC light. P2174 Throttle/Pedal Pos. Sensor/Switch E circuit-implausible signal, test conditions are not complete fault is currently active and is not causing a DTC light. 470 CAN 1314 DME Some background...the first time this error code came up i checked the enging throttle body, cleaned it and made sure all connections were secure. Additionally i replaced both batteries last summer. Now what should I check/replace?
  15. Okay...here it goes...The last time it went into PSM it cost me over $3500 and that's after I replaced several parts my self (both MAF, Throttle pedal assembly, cleaned throttle body, cam sensor bank 1 replaced) ..Anyways...I made it home and plugged it in and have the following: Durametric Codes P0112 (Intake Air Temp Sensor 1) P0343 (Camshaft Position Sensor A bank 1) P2186 (Throttle/ Pedal Pos Sensor switch D/E P2174 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor /switch E P1538 Throttle Adjust unit lower mechanical stop relearning implasusible P2169 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor switch D P1535 Throttle adjust unit test aborted P0103 MAF P0470 CAN P1314 DME P1320 Air con control module Cleared codes re-ran durametric the only codes staying are P0112, P0470 and P1320 Need some thoughts/suggestions... Anyone in the NorthCarolina area with PIWIS or PST2???
  16. Well, while driving home I got the PSM workshop message. After a couple of minutes of driving, when coming to a stop, it would go very slowly and then finally kick in. Once home, hooked up the durametric. Following codes 470 CAN comfort in signal wire operation 778 Steering signal sensor 1314 DME control module 819 air conditioning sensor open circuit 1336 can comfort off 470 can comfort off P0700. transmission control implausible signal P0050 heater control bank 2 sensor test not completed P2680 fuel pump control no signal P0011 cam position timing over P2186 throttle pedal implausible signal P2174 throttle position implausible I cleared all codes and only the 470 code remained. I disconnected the negative battery cable for a few minutes and declared using Durametric. Drove fine. After stopping at the store, turning off the car and then restarted the Psm code came back up. What the heck is going on?
  17. Just got my tires replaced and the PSM kicks in more often than it did before. Sometimes on mildly enthusiastic turns. I suspect it may be what Discount Tire may have set the tire pressure at. Can this be the issue? I'm assuming Discount may have put equal tire pressure on all four.
  18. Hi I have a question please I wonder if someone can answer? I have a 2004/05 4.5V8 Twin Turbo, Tiptronic. When driving normally, leaving the car in normal D (Drive) the car is quick to shift gears between 2000 and 3000rpm, going up the gears as quickly as it can, often leaving me in too high a gear and being very sluggish. I've recently noticed, if I turn off the PSM button, the car shifts alot later in the revs, between 3500 and 4500 and in doing so, always sits just on the turbo and feels so much more responsive. flick the PSM back on, and the car returns back to its sluggish ways, trying to climb the gears far too early. If I drive the car in manual/tiptronic (I do the majority of the time once the car is warm) I tend to drive it changing between 3000 and 4000 rpm. The gearbox is meant to remember the way I drive and respond accordingly, however doesn't seem to be learning?? I do wonder if its the underboost (boost leak) problem I've been trying to get to the bottom of, is affecting it, by the car flipping into limp home mode and wiping the gearchange memory? I'm showing no error codes on the iPhone Rev application, however am currently unable to stick the durametric program into the car as I have switched from PC to Mac. I've had the car into the dealer and mentioned the early gearchange and they said sometimes the gearbox settings can stick and reset it for me, however it doesnt seem to make a difference. Can anyone shed any light on this? ... does the car have a different engine / gearshift map without PSM on?? Thanks Chris
  19. Hi guys. First time here for me. I have bought the Cayenne s and have som trouble with it. The car was standing out side over night in about -5 Celsius. In the morning when I started the car the PSM default whent upp in the display. I tried to restart the car but it did not disappear. When I was driving the car the gear box did not whant to change any gears. Think it's running on 2 or 3 gear all the time. I live in the northern part of Sweden and there are no porche dealers here. So I took the car to the only guy who has the Porche computer. When we connected the computer it says: tiptronic not found. Abs DME control module 1314. 0668 vehicle voltage terminal30. 1315 tiptronic controll module. 1299 gateway. The mechanic says he can't enter the PSM system and erase the faulty codes. So he has no clue what to do. The nearest porche dealer is about 1000 km from me, so know the car stands I my garage and I don't know what to do with it. Please, help me if you can Sorry if my spellings is bad, Regars Peter from a cold norther part of Sweden
  20. I've been experiencing ABS/PSM problems ever since replacing worn out rear tires and using a different wheels on my MY02 996 C4S manual. I replaced the rears with exactly the same OEM sized tires, but with different wheels. Prior to tire/wheel replacement I've never experienced any ABS/PSM issues. New Sumitomo HRZ-III 295/30-18 at the rear on original C4S solid spoke turbo twist wheels, 11x18. 60% worn Sumitomo HRZ-III 225/40-18 at the front on 996TT hollow spoke turbo twist wheels, 8x18. Under normal braking in left and right hand turns, ABS or PSM activates causing slight disruption in balance of car. Normally the warning light would just flash on for a second (or not at all). This is fairly repeatable in certain turns, but not others. No problems straight line braking. Today, after an ABS activation incident, I received an ABS failure and a PSM failure warnings that stayed on. Both warning lights on dash and computer on dash saying to drive to workshop. Drove to safe location, pulled off and parked, turned car off, waited a minute, turned car back on and no warnings. I know mixing tire brands/models are bad; mixing old and new tires left and right are bad; but is it ok to mix hollow and solid spoke wheels front and back?
