  1. Hello. This is my first time posting as this is my first issue with my 2006 Cayenne S and this is also my first Porsche. The vehicle had an aftermarket radio in it when I purchased it and I changed that radio for another one that supported Apple CarPlay. both units are made by pioneer and after looking at the backs of them it appears to be plug and play. I changed everything out and fired it up and everything was great. No issues or errors and the sound worked fine and calls worked fine. The previous installer used only twisted ends and electrical tape to secure the wiring so I took the wiring apart and used wire nuts to make sure nothing came apart while it was being installed and for longevity. After starting the car back up, I received a brake proportioning fault and an oil pressure fault and it told me workshop fault as well. I pulled fuse 40 as I heard it resets the system and plugged it back in. The brake proportioning fault is gone but the oil pressure fault remains. I double checked my wiring work to make sure that I was not missing anything and nothing had come back apart. Everything is indeed attached and plugged in. Now that I have finished my long-winded story, was this fault caused because I knocked something loose or because I left the fiber optic cabling unplugged for too long. I noticed that there was a red light coming from the input and of the fiber optic cabling a couple of times while I was rewiring it. Do I just need to reset this system using a better method or do you think something is wrong with it? Any help would be appreciated and I intend on donating to this forum and website as it seems to be a true source of knowledge and help for the DIY Porsche enthusiast. Thank you in advance and I look forward to your responses.
  2. I have a 2017 911 4s cab and not impressed with the Bose system, i like the head unit with carpal and integration with the car but the speakers and power are poor at best. Does anyone have experience in upgrading the system without changing the stock look in the car? Thanks All
  3. I replced the CDR23 with Seicane Android HU. It comes with Canbus adapter and I purchaed MOST adapter with it to make it work with factory Bose amp. The unit powers up fine, but the MOST adapter needs to have power to work. Any suggestion where can I connect the three wires listed in the pic to? I assume the main socket that was connected to the CDR23 has power, but don’t know which wire is which. How easy would it be to get power from lighter adapter aux? I am planning to replace that lighter adapter with USB port for the HU as well. Thanks
  4. Hello everyone, Just joining the forum here! I Just purchased and '05 Cayenne S with the coolant pipe issue fixed, and fresh service. I also gutted the stereo to get rid of the CD23 Bose stereo and subsequent fiber-optic connections. I now have two kicker amps powering the factory speakers, an alpine sub in the stock enclosure, and AppRadio! Awesome setup and couldn't be more pleased. I replaced the tires with 265/60/18 BFG KO2 All-terrains, and this thing kills it off-road (Southern Oregon). If anyone has any upkeep advice to offer, or common issues that I should know of, please let me know. Pictures are coming shortly. (Also: the stock Bose CD-changer, amp, and stereo face-plate are for sale!)
  5. I am going to install a double din head unit into my 2001 986, but i have a wiring question. I was expecting to see 2 connectors at the back of my Beck head unit, which i would match up the correct wires from the wire diagrams i have, BUT on take out my Becker unit i have only 1 connector (power/switched power/antenna control/ground etc) and a yellow connector. This yellow connector has a +LR/RR/LF/RF, a common audio ground and a 12v switched power. Where do these get attached to on my new units ISO? Do i split the common ground 4 times to make it - LR/RR/LF/RF? Why are these speakers switched? What do i do with the 12v switched wire from this connector? I'll be using a 12v switched wire from the first connector already. TIA
  6. I have a 2004 Targa with the Bose upgrade. When I bought the car, one of the previous owners had replaced the headunit, removed the Bose amp, and had not reconnected the passenger footwell sub. I'm not a huge music listener in the car, so I'd like to remove the Bose subwoofer to get some more legroom back on the passenger side. However, I can't seem to find a carpeted trim piece to cover the hole that's left by the subwoofer. Does anyone know where I can find that, or have a part number? Thanks!
  7. Hello all,I want to do a stealth SQ install in my Cayman. I already own 2 amps from my old car (RF Power 50.2 and RF Power 250.2, both in Chrome) but don't have to use them. The car currently has PCM and Sound Package plus, so 3 way fronts, a 3" centre channel in the dash and 4" midrange rears - no subwoofer.PCM has 4 speaker level outputs, so these need to go into a processor (Alpine PXA-H800, Audison BitOne or RF 360.3?) so that the output can go to amps (I'm thinking JL Audio HD900.5 and HD600.4; the former running active tweets and mids in the front plus subwoofer, the latter bridged to run midbass in the door). I really would like to keep the PCM if possible, though there may be justification to replace it if the output via a processor is going to be significantly inferior to a modern HU with digital output.Speakers - I'm considering either Morel Elate Limited Edition, Morel Elate 903, Dynaudio Esotec System 362 for 3-way fronts, and the JL Audio stealthbox in the rear.Questions:1. Which 3-ways are best in this car?2. Are JL Audio HD amps good enough to get the best from high end 3 ways?3. Should I be going passive instead, by losing the HD600.4 and simply bridging the HD900.5 to run 150W to each front side?4. Which is the best processor for SQ?5. Will an SQ'd PCM be significantly inferior to a high end Pioneer/Alpine double-DIN navigation unit?6. Is this design flawed in any way? Can it be designed better? Thanks,C.
